Thumbs up Thunder Alley rocks!!!!!!

Just giving credit where credit is due.

Last November I ordered a Thunder Alley pipe with spark arrestor. For those that don't know these are hand made pipes made by Bob Murphy in california. After some initial delays with the ceramic coating I got the pipe and love it. Well recently after reading some threads on TT I got intreasted in the race core that Bob sends free of charge with the pipe.

After talking to Bob on the phone last week he is sending the race core free of charge and free of shipping because I'm in the military. Man you can't beat service like that. Almost a year after and he still backs up his product.:

Wow, that is cool... He never ceases to amaze me with his customer service. Have you tried the new insert yet? I know when I rode you 426 back to back with my CRF, I didn't think the 450 lost or gained anything against your bike.

I will have to start saving so I can get one. I've wanted one for a while now, I just haven't made it a priority since the the stock pipe gives me all I can handle as it is.

Nope no quite insert for me yet. I got the Sparky so I could do trails around here but I ride the tracks 90% of the time so going for the race core.

Oh, too bad. I thought you had it already. What is the race core supposed to do for the pipe? If it makes the pipe I rode noticibly better, I may have to get me one for sure.

Bates rear ended me last year, and I have a dent in my pipe, so I could probably get my Ins to buy me a new one.

Well Bob says it won't make alot of difference but Therapture and other on TT say it makes the thing loud as heck and a ton of low end some have commented that it makes minimal improvement over the one with the SA. The race core its just a straight through core with a bigger end cap hole so it should improve the exhast flow I would assume. I'll let you know when it gets here.

Cool. Not too sure about the loud part... I don't care for the loud ones, but the TA in normal form isn't bad at all.

Well true to his word Bob sent the race core. I got it yesterday. Big difference in the diameter of the end cap. The race core one is about twice the size. I still have to drill and tap the holes so won't be able to give a report until Sunday after the track if the rain holds off.

Ok well got the Race core last Wed. I took out the Spark arrestor core and packing and installed the Race core.... The difference from looks is very noticable the Race core is a straight threw pipe and the end cap is about teice the Dia as the one that comes with the sparky.

I only started it in the driveway so no ride test but it is true to it's name. Thunder Alley, it shakes the earth and heavens when raped out. I have a neighbor with an aluminum garage door across the street and the sound was rattling the hell out of it, I only did it for a couple of minutes so no one got pissed. Didn't get to ride this weekend with it but will give an update hopefully this thursday after wed practice.

Rode with the race core last Saturday at practice so had alot of track time.

The pipe is really loud and throaty. It adds alot to the bottom end I thought. The track happened to have alot of mud in some of the corners and straights so as you entered and poured on the throttle you really hear the pipe with the extra load.

After the first practice was over I would go out late and be one of the last bikes to go. That way I had people I could practice passing. You must be able to hear that thing from a long way away because people were waving me by all the time it was kind of funny.

I noticed a vast improvment in the bottom end grunt. Some of it could be the sound "It sounds like a 426 on Roids" but overall it's great and the best part is it's free if you tell Bob you want the sparky and the race core when you buy it.
