Default thinking of selling

I have a 05 rmz 450 that i am thinking of selling. But i don't know if it would be better to sell it as a whole or to piece it out. I just had the suspension revalved and resprung this past march, and there are only basic things done to it. Jet kit installed, stainless oil filter, iron man rear sprocket. Bike runs strong and fires up first or second kick everytime.

so what do you guys think would be the best thing to do?

I would just try to sell it. If you piece it out and people only buy a couple parts then you cant sell it as a complete bike anymore. Parting a bike is really only a good idea if you have a blown engine or have an incomplete bike.

Not only that, but there is something Frankensteinish about parting out a bike that's in perfect running condition.

An extremely patient strategy of parting it out on ebay would probably yield the greater dollar amount. However, it could take years for that to happen. I guess it depends if you want the money now or take it in over the long term.

not like i need the money tomorrow or anything, but i also don't want to have bits and pieces laying around for the next year. so I think as a whole might be the way to go

You said it for me there. I have lots of leftover parts from part outs (I have a problem turning down a great CL buy, CL anonomous is in my future lol). I sold some parts to a guy who runs a store on Ebay and that is his full time thing and he does well, but it does take time. I would scout Ebay and see what people are buying. And honestly, I have way better luck listing parts on CL and you dont have to worry about shipping, Paypal, etc.
