Angry Stupid chain guard

I was just going over my bike getting it ready for tomorrow's race. Well my carb tubes made there way past the chain guard so I took the chain guard off and put them back in there proper place. When I went to tighten down the two chain guard bolts the bottom bolt went on fine, then I'm tightening the top one and its a little stiff but not bad. Well then the top bolt breaks! So now I have got a piece of bolt stuck up in there that I don't know how I'm going to get out. But here is my question, does anyone even run the chain guard? I mean I hardly see a bike that has them. Is this really anything to be worried about? When I tighten down the bottom bolt and slide the top bolt in there, it holds pretty good, I don't think it would come out while riding. I may even give the top bolt a little dose of blue loctite to help it stay put.
Is it a big deal or not?
