You can add me to the injured list. I managed to sprain both my knees yesterday. I was playing on a friends track and trying to learn to jump. The section I was on had a small jump with a step down 30 or so feet after it. I think what happened was that I landed in a pretty big wheelie off the jump, then hit the step down which caused the rear to drop even more and me to come off the back. Fortunately the bike went right and I went left. Both my knees are sprained. I think I sort of did a split with my knees when I came off the bike. Nothing else was hurt, including the bike. There was a bunch of guys around that were able to pick me up and bring me home. I went to the hospital to make sure nothing was screwed up too bad. They said ice, ibuprofen and rest is the best thing to do. Any other suggestions? I guess I need to learn to use the rear brake more. I think I tend to not use it enough because I came from riding street bikes. If I had been able to get on the rear brake I might have been able to save it. Maybe...

sounds to me you need some knee braces!!! i dont know about you, but my insurance company just recently informed my parents that they are willing to put up like 1000 dollars for some knee protection. im gonna get the astriks(sp?) cause they are most comfortable to me. just keep complaining to your docotr that your knees hurt after riding, that u cant stop riding, and your not doing crazy things and eventually he should talk to your insurance co about knee braces.

Sounds like you had a good time this weekend. Glad it wasn't any worse than that. Next time just do one or the other, NOT both. LOL

Thanks for the thoughts. Woody - your right, one knee would be a lot easier to deal with! I have been searching this forum and found some good info on knee braces. I will look into them. There is an Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation center here that is supposed to have one of the best knee specialists around. I think I will complain enough so that I can see him through my insurance. I know a couple people that have seen him and they say he is one of the best. One of the guys was a ski patroler that blew out a knee and the Doctor said not to wear braces beyond the ace bandage/spandex kind. He said you can still injure your knee with them on and they only make you feel better than you are. We'll see. I feel pretty good about my recovery. I am already able to bear weight on both knees and have been stretching and icing a lot. The swelling has also reduced quite a bit.
