Exclamation Should i go for the CRF pipe or an S10 exhaust?

Hey guys, i had a question. I have about $700-800 and i want to know what I should do with it. I can get an exhaust for my truck, exhaust for my CRF250R, or maybe anyother additions to my bike you guys think i should do. I was thinking, maybe a suspension tune-up? What do you guys think, the exhaust on the 2002 Chevy S10 will add about 10-15 horse i think, giving it around 200-205. I still dont know what to do, what do you guys think?

Get your suspension set up. You dont need more power. Id take a good revalve over 2500 bucks in engine mods, anyday.

You can throw a Magnaflow exaust on your S-10 for around $100-150. No need to go stainless or change the tail pipe. I did it to my old S-10 and it gave it some extra power (barely noticable) and a good tone (stay away from Flowmaster, they sound horrible on 6 cyl.s). With the money left over, buy a K&N drop in filter for the truck as well, and have your suspension on the CRF revalved, sprung and fresh oil put in. That should eat your whole wad nicely!!

If youre referring to a catback, theres no way you can get a magnaflow for 100 bucks. Try MINIMUM 350.

Ill tell you what, bring yourself to any muffler shop and they can tell you first hand how much it costs to swap the stock muffler out for a Magnaflow, then come back and tell me what you learned. Ive only done it to about 30 of my friends, neigbors and my trucks but I guess I must have miscounted the money when I/we paid them. :

Hmm, learn something new everyday I suppose. I was looking to get my girl a MagnaFlow for her Civic (i know, i know), and the cheapest I could find one was just north of $350, and thats with me installing it. Why are they so much cheaper at the muffler shop?

In fact, this summer I drove across the country with a buddy and we stopped in Texas (cant think of the city, its the only one along the 10 though) and we had one put on while we ate lunch for a grand total of, you guessed it $100 bucks with a chrome tip. This was on a Dodge Dakota with the V8. :

And are we talking just the muffler, or a full catback?

Your thinking of a catback kit which includes new mandrel bent pipes and a stainless instead of galvanized steel muffler. Stainless mufflers are a total waste of money but will outlast the pipes they weld onto. Unless you plan on crawling under it to stare at it, dont waste the money on a stainless unit. Cept your talking about a car that I believe you can see the endcap of the muffler so it would look better in that circumstance, but I would still buy the reg. model.

Thanks for the info so far. If i was to put an exhaust on the S10, i would want it to be dual out the back. I was thinking 3 inch inlet and 2.5 inch outlet duals. I have been on an S10 forum, and a lot have recommended flowmaster. Do they have a bad "tiny" sound Roostman?

masterflow?

An exhaust shop quoted my friend $250 to put in a flowmaster 40 and bend up a 3in tailpipe with a pretty nice tip.

Buy a Hypertech Power Programmer chip for the truck, and get new pipe for your bike. You'll notice more of a difference from the chip than a new exhaust. Plus you'll get double the horsepower the exhaust would give you. The chip goes for around $300. Check on ebay. Answer a series of Yes/No questions and It can add more horsepower and torque, raise your RPM "Rev" limiter and top-speed, adjust shift points and more. I have a chip and full exhaust, including glass packs on my GMC Sonoma. She don't look pretty, but she takes the ricers by suprise.

Yea, sorry i meant Flowmaster. I also like the sound of a Borla, but the clip i listened to had the headers and all replaces. Im considering a chip like Loki said. How much horse and torque does the chip add do you think LoKi? Thanks for all the help so far guys. How much do you think a suspension revalve would cost?

Depending on what chip you choose, you could gain anywhere from 20-45 hp. On the stage 3 hypertech you'll also gain 57 ft/lbs of torque. Plus you'll increase your gas mileage. They're pretty trick. I have a stage 2 on mine. They're easy to install. Also make sure you throw nice new K&N on that bad boy.

Revalve.

If you don't need springs, probably around $450-$500.
