wassup people??????????????

i'm on a friend's computer that had dialup. cable is still out. we came through pretty well. we had a few small drip leaks where the new ongoing construction meets with the old. We lost some of the roll roofing off out carport flat roof. the rest is just a mess, lots of small and medium sized limbs down, our yard is covered in about a foot of leaves, and small branches. waterfront property lost alot of docks and seawalls. believe it or not we never lost power or phone. it flickered, and the phone will only ring once now, but we can call out fine.
we were luchy the wind speeds dropped. we had some 120 mph gusts, and 90-100 mph sustained. we went through the eastern most side of the eye wall. had the winds beed 20-30 mph faster we would have seen alot more severe dammage. wind dammage is exponential, for every +15 mph the dammage doubles, or something like that.

thanks for all the support guys. Dell, i hope you're ok, mike, the same for you.

motoman, I'm going to have to postpone my trip up to see you for a week or so. no way i can make it up next weekend. We have alot of cleanup to do.

Raleigh didnt get hit too bad. Our yard is an absolute mess, but we came out okay I thought. The power is back up here.

The boats fared well. The sailboat has some scuffs on the hull from slamming into the dock. There is some minor damage to the rigging from flying debris. 2 80-100 ft pine trees were lost in the yard, both fell into the bay. The wooden stairs to our dock floated away, and all the lights that were on the dock shorted out. The electric lift motors shorted out. The pro-line settled back on the lift, albeit crooked and more to the back.... she also had some minor cosmetic damage, nothing major.

The sailboat right across the creek from us was a mess. The wind was coming from behind it, both sails were ripped out of their furlers and were shredded by the wind. Sails aint cheap either.

All in all we did okay. Sounds like YP did alright too.

The folks up in va on the west shore of the bay got hit pretty bad, it has been a long time since they have had a direct hit (unlike the NC coast) so they were not quite as prepared.

Thanks for the updates guys. I am glad all of you came out in decent shape! I was just watching the news and it showed some pictures that looked terrible. Again, glad you made it through unscathed.

Oh HELL YA!!

Yardpro, you drive to my house, and we will leave your truck in my barn for safe keeping.

Then we will ride down in mine.

Thought of another option if you don't want to drive all the way up here to my house.

We could meet in Nashville or so and then throw your bike and gear into my truck and head out. It is about the same distance for both us and we would both have to pass thru there anyway.

However I don't know where we could leave a vehicle where it would be safe? Up to you man, you let me know, it is NO problem to have you leave it at my house.
