Default Saving you ash.

Having taken multiple dirt samples over the years i was curious about what you do to your bike or self to make riding safer and more likely to survive an unplanned ejection.

Here's mine, compliments of Tyler. Safety wire your spokes together from one side of the wheel hub to the other where the spokes cross over on each side. If a spoke shears off it will not flap around and get caught up in the hub or sproket. That 'll keep you on the bike cause gettin off in a hurry hurts !!!!

For critical bolts--like the sprocket bolts, etc., use a sharpie and put a stripe across the bolt to the base material. This way when a bolt comes loose, you can see it visually.

keep 2 Vicodin and a couple of chemical ice packs in your gearbag. It can be a long painful ride from the track to home or the hospital. Trust me on this one.

I always put clean underwear on in the morning before a ride.

Seriously though, before a major ride I give the bike a good cleaning you will be surprized how much crap you find that could be a potential problem just by cleaning your ride. Also be sure and check all bolts for proper torque.

Check for gas and make sure your petcock is on when you leave for riding. Nothing worse then a bike that bogs on the face of a jump!! (ask Yardpro!! How are you by the way?)

Im not a very religious person, but before every ride I do say a quick prayer. I also take it easy for the first half hour or so, and dont try anything over my head. A lot of people say that you cant think about it, you just act, but i find myself repeating a lot of the advice I learn on here to myself as im riding. "Elbows out, weight the outside peg, Respect the bike, but dont fear it." I just got my boots today, and the chest protecter will be coming in the next few days, and a new lid after that. Ill be as prepared as I can be. Oh, and after every ride i go through most of the nuts and bolts and tighten anything that may have come loose.

This may sound crazy but I talk to my bike and tell her how much I love her. Then I give her a little smooch on the bar pad. lol
