Salt Lake City 2009 Supercross

I've got my tickets and I'm really really excited to be going. Even though we have a 50% chance of rain (though I've been praying we won't see any) and the chances of getting wet and cold are pretty high, the excitement is almost more than I can handle.

It's been since 2004 since I've been able to see an SX event in SLC, and I'm as happy as ever to be going back. Thanks to our AWESOME governor (John M. Huntsman Jr. and others) it's back and hopefully to stay. A few years ago he (the governor) said he was going to do everything in his power to get SX back on the SX destination list -- and he's done it. I'm sure he wasn't alone, but he's certainly led the charge.

I just hope we support the event like other states have. It's been getting a lot of press locally (a lot more than in any year I've seen in the past) which should help. I am hoping for a sold out stadium which would certainly help our chances.

Some useful information I thought I should pass along.

Racing starts (qualifying etc) at 12:30 PM.

If you don't already have a pit pass, you can bring an empty can of Monster Energy drink to the event which you can then trade for a pit pass.

I'm going and have probably 12 others that I'll meet at the event. It should be a barn burner with a close title hunt in both classes (Chad Reed vs James Stewart & Jake Weimer vs Ryan Dungey).

I'm going to get there as soon as I can and plan on getting as many pictures as I can.

So if you are local, and don't have tickets yet, it's not too late. Get on it and I'll see you there.

Well I have a job next week in Salt Lake, and thought that I might come out a little early, so I could go, but the machine was delayed by a couple of days, so I can't start until Wed., so.............. Looks like I'll just have to drive down to Vegas next Sat. for the finals, since the customer isn't working on the weekend I'll have a couple of days to kill and it's only like 6 1/2 hrs. down there soo......................

That sounds perfect. The vegas SX is always awesome. That would be a blast.

If im not mistaken The govenor is on a few thrillbillies DVD, looks like he hangs out with Pastrana quite a bit. He should run for president maybe our sport can finaly have some peace

I'm actually not sure if he is or not? I just know he rides a 450 (honda last time I saw him at the track), loves our sport, and supports it any way he can. His boys ride too.

Apparently he's started getting into Supermoto at miller motorsports park. At least that's what he said at SX tonight. He really does love the sport.

Yes indeed, I made it out and it was flat out awesome! I too think Huntsman Jr. should run for president. He's probably the most level headed politician I've ever seen, and the fact that he's a big mx fan is a huge bonus

I hardly noticed the Cold and fortunately the rain held off later in the day and the track turned out pretty nice. I had a blast!! Wish I could go down to Vegas next week!
