Default Russ's day one at the Sheriff's Academy...pic

The training staff invites all family to the first day of the training academy. Class #169 started at 7am sharp with the trainees lined up in formation. The staff set off a bomb behind the trainees to get their (and our) attention. The staff mingled among the ranks and were quick to point out flaws in uniforms and whatnot.

In the below pic you will see a couple of "ropes" they found on Russ's uniform shirt, one that they wrapped around his tie tack and one just above the tack. Because of this violation he lost his badge (they took it from him) and he will have to earn it back by displaying that he can get his uniform in order. Although embarassing, you will also see trainees int he pic with their belts around their necks and their ties in various places. All things considered he did pretty good on "day one inspection". I'll find out how the rest of the day went later on this evening.

Those guys are serious! But I reckon that line of work requires it. It makes sense to me how they treat them from the start. Hang in there, Russ!

True that Jedi. Russ and I spent Thursday afternoon teaching him the art of spit shined boots. He did a good job on them. Except for the "ropes" they never mentioned anything else about his uniform or boots...at least that I could hear!!!

Very awsome "E". I bet it was a great feeling to see your son in uniform holding his head proud and strong. Even for the infractions. He looks good. Tell him the Ekholms are proud. . My father was a Orange County sheriff.

GO RUSS!!!!!

Given the man that he had for an example, I have no doubt Russ will do just fine. It looks pretty intense to me, but I'm sure it's needed. You'll do great Russ!!!

That's an awesome picture, Eazy E. I bet Russ felt humiliated but will be a better man for it.

I was such a wreck this morning I walked off without my camera. Another parent was kind enough to take some pics for me and e-mailed them to me. I'll have more pics to post tonight when Cherie gets home. This danged dial up has to go!!

Ernie,
Russian pennants huh? Kinda like Parris Island and the DI's looks like. You did inform him you cannot possibly get through day one and stand an inspection successfully didn't you? I guess the spit shine lesson was enough for one day. Seem familiar to you at all from two times? Sure does to me. Tell Russ good luck from an old jarhead.

Bill

Me too Tracy.

Ern....that is so cool. Russ does not look happy and I'm sure it's about the badge. Like what's been said, he will do just fine.
I would say we are all very proud of him and also of his dad.

Ernie,
Tell Russ to be sure to use a lighter to burn off the ropes and do not pull them or try to cut them off close enough. Hard learned lesson here.

That's true, a lighter always worked best.
How could I ever forget getting accused of smoking and having to do PT until the drill sergeant was tired of standing there

Big "E"

Boy does that type of picture bring back memories of boot-camp.

With the training Russ received at home he will "Adapt & Overcome", no doubt.

Keep us posted on his progress. I look forward to his transformation.

Some more pics from Day One. This is the actual sequence of when he got "ripped for his ropes".
