Default Rode track for the first time today

I loved it! I have a lot to learn and doubles still scare me, but it was fun. We went out to this track that a guy built on his 40 acres. He charges $5 and you can ride all day! It was just me and a buddy and we had it all to ourselves. I can't wait to go back!

Cool. Every one of us has had to start somewhere. Practice and learn the skills you need and you will have more fun than you should be allowed to have!!

I still remember the first time I finally went to a track after years of trail riding and enduro bikes. Had my hands full with a yz450f to boot. Oh and doubles still scare me too man. have fun and be safe

$5 to ride all day is really cheap. All the tracks around here that Ive been to charge $25.
Track riding is great. Its weird because the whole time you are riding you are scared to death you are going to massacre yourself and your body is so tired and beat up that it begs you to stop, but as soon as you load up and are on the way home you cant wait to do it again.
Dont get too down on yourself about not doing the doubles your first time. A lot of motocross is confidence and that will come with time. Jumps scared me at first too but my friends worked with me and within 2 months of riding once or twice a week I was clearing 60' gaps with ease. Just dont get too confident and try to do jumps that are beyond your abilities. I know a few people who are obsessed with clearing every big jump they see and they spend more time hurt and broke-down than they do healthy and riding.

Right now my main focus is cornering, but my friend said that I was carrying enough speed out of the corner to clear the double. I need to practice rolling the throttle a little more, I have a feeling that I'm going to give it too much and end up on my back

This cracked me up!

I'm not a track guy, Desert is more my thing. A few years ago my wife and I worked at a track and we would both practice a few times a week. The doubles used to scare me bad. So avoiding them all together made me happy, but something in my mind kept telling me to jump em. My wife (who is a great jumper) had me pace her and commit to a few smaller doubles (20-30 ft). I landed it smoothly my first shot. Its a great feeling to acomplish something that scares the hell out of you. Take it slowly and everything will start feeling comfortable over time. Like what was said before, be over confident is a huge killer. I was clearing a 70ft table all day long and I took a gnarly dirt nap at the end of the day. That was pretty much the last time I hit a MX track....who knows, Comp Edge is sounding really fun right now.

Adrenaline is pretty freakin' cool! I actually like it better than morphine.

Thats good that you are working on cornering because you can make up a lot of time and pass a lot of people if you can haul through the corners.
