Default Ride report, sort of..Loooong one, for sure

A group of guys I hang out with took a bike ride to a car auction this past weekend. Here's how it all went down, kinda, sorta. I'll get some pics up tonight.

Most of you dont know the dark side that was once Doc. I'll save you the details since
this is a family site, but to make an already long opening sentence longer, I used to
run with a biker group a few years back that made me, no, forced me, to slow down,
prioritize the important things in my life and wonder how I fit all those commas into
one sentence. Well, waking myself up from the lull that my life has become, I sensed a
need for excitement, mischief and wreckless abandon. So with my wife's permission I
answered the call to ride, one last time, with the crew that had me headed straight to
the slammer and a life of immorality. The gang was getting together for a 2 hour cruise
that promised to blaze a trail along the sedate little bible packing towns of eastern
Indiana. The four of us, on steeds of chrome so highly polished, that I actually burnt
my retina on more than one occasion and lost all sense of depth perception for the
weekend, started the day around sunrise. As I slipped on the tattered leather vest that
proudly wore the gang colors and symbol, I was amazed it still fit. "No, I dont button
my vests anymore," I answered my wife as I asked her where my Cartier watch was. Didnt
want to keep the impatient, battle hardened crew waiting because I was well aware of
the ugly consequences. The last one there had to buy the lattees and bran muffins.
The street beneath us rumbled like a 1.9 on the Richter scale as 4 hombres, 4 V-twins,
and 80hp bore down the boulevard, women and children scattering like cockroaches at the
site of an 80 watt lightbulb. Im certain they not only cursed our very existence but
also the careless and reckless manner with which we dared display our colors. Versace
was a genius for daring to combine the warm glow of the gold-leafed trim with that
undenying shade of fuscia.
We hit the open road with total disregard to the constraining laws, purposefully
written to subdue the gun toting, tobacco chewing, whisky swigging nature that coursed
through our veins. In defiance, I set the cruise control to the posted 55mph as I
settled into the left hand lane. Yea, buddy, I know the left hander is for passing...
Come get you some, I beckoned the backwoods looking guy in the Ford pick up behind me. Mile after angry mile passed as the cool winds of freedom blew the
gel off my carefully tusseled locks. I could see the envy of every face that was
pressed against the glass of each passing car. Some, too frightened to stare for too
long so as to not incur our wrath, while others, smiled enviously from the protective
custody their vehicles afforded them. Sucks to be you I mocked them as I repositioned
the gel seat and hit the preset button on the XM satellite.
With Donna Summers proudly declaring her work ethic, we broke formation and a site of
beauty unfolded as each of us scrambled in an orchestrated maneuver that would have the
Blue Angels sit up and take notice. We had already missed the previous Dairy Queen
exit, we werent going to miss this one. Come hell or high water, I was getting me a large chocolate cone dipped in chocolate.
Upon our arrrival to our destination, it seemed as if all the traffic in town stopped
and held their collective breath in anticipation as to the chaos that was about to
unfold. The front end quickly washed out as I prematurely slammed on my front brake to
keep from slamming into the pristine 57 Chevy in front of me. As the world war II
veteran threatened to force me to have to eat my meals through a straw for the next 6
months, I wiped away the tears that my eyes had formed to soothe my aching retinas and
cursed the extra layer of Mother's I applied the night before. After making it clear that I wasnt to be pushed around like some middle-aged, midlife crisis stricken has been, he saw the error of his ways and realized his tour of duty, welterweight title and mob connections were taking him down a road he had better left untravelled. After muttering something about a protected witness program and relocation something or other, he promptly got back into his car and drove off.
The rest of the trip unfolded without a hitch and as I reflected upon it from the comfort of my California King and 300 thread count sheets, the smell of Ben Gay permeated the air as my wife attended to my aching back...man, what year is this wine? Its so fruity yet doesnt overwhelm the palate. Is that a hint of cinnamon?

Thank you guys, I appreciate it. Here are a few pics as promised.

The crew- There's one more(taking the pic). The guy in the shorts used to ride with us but had a massive stroke a couple of years ago. He has bounced back nicely and is in the market for a trike...so if anyone knows of one let me know.

The crew in front of the Loon Lake Lodge, our watering hole.

Some pics of the new bike...settle down you Harley Haters!

I appreciate that and consider it a high compliment. For future reference, my work can be printed and enjoyed while seated beside the 1000 sheet count of Mr. Whipple's finest.
