A request for some prayers please

ATM,
I am again facing surgery on my abdomen, I saw the surgeon a week ago. Bottom line is I have to have additional surgery. I have a stricture forming an intestinal blockage in the small intestine. This goes back to 2000 when I had a ruptured appendix. I have had two reconstructions to date. Time for number three. The surgeon will also repair a torn muscle panel in my abdomen from the last reconstruction with a mesh of tissue to reinforce the area. He hopes to stop the tears altogether. I was too weak in July for surgery when they found these problems.

I was to return 23 Aug 05 to schedule the surgery, now it looks sooner. That should allow recovery for the GMB IV attendance. I spoke to Mike Berg then and I am jazzed about making the GMB so I'll be doing everything to be strong enough to have the surgery soon and recover quickly.

My point is this though, the surgery is high risk. He cannot know what the stricture has actually done to the intestine until he gets inside. I may need a resection. Any knick of the intestine means another resection and longer recovery. I can deal with these things, just whistling past the grave yard. I have dealt with two emergency reconstructions and you survive and move on. Even got a free helo ride the first time And the pilot was a Marine officer, so it was all good . I thought my air ops days were over before then .

I would deeply appreciate your prayers, again. Seems like I am always coming to y'all for this. This is an extract from my letting the Admins and fellow moderators know so it will seem familiar to them. To all of you I say thanks for all your support and prayers over the years.

Respectfully,
Bill Barnard

Default Hope everything goes well mate.

I wish you the best of luck while in hospital Bill.

At least there is a good chance you will be back on your feet ready for GMB IV, that's good news.
I hope the surgery goes allright, and I hope your in and out asap'

I'll pray for you buddy, that it's a succes and that you don't have to go in for a fourth operation.

Take care,

Dean.

bill, we will definately be praying for your speedy recovery. My son just had his surgury to remove his appendix on july 18th. he is recovering nicely he is just now able to get back to doing what he likes so im going to take him riding thursday. I think the whole incedent with his rupture was a blessing in disquise because when they removed it they found a tumor that if left inside would have caused major problems in the future. I myself have had a number of surgerys from my car accident when i lost my arm so i know its never easy to see things on the brite side. Just know that you'll have a lot of good people pulling for you to get well quickly

Bill, I hope God and God's Kid (I call J.C. "God's Kid" cuz he thinks it's cool) do all they can to help your doctors fix up your busted bowels. Lord knows it sucks when the poop don't flow proper.

I also asked him to feed the starving pygmies in New Guinea, if that's okay

Default Many thanks to y'all

ATM,
I appreciate these thanks. I'll let the mods know when I do go in and they will inform as they see fit. No firm date yet. This all goes back to the ruptured appendix in May 2000 and ongoing scar tissue problems. I was warned then taht this would follow mw for the rest of my life. Hey, I am alive, kicking, raising my children and doing the thing I wanted to do as an engineer. Life is pretty good to me.

Deano,
I wish this was the third operation, actually this is number eight since 2000 and 5 additional back surgery procedures as an outpatient. I fighre they will give my MD diploma after this one is done off of Life Experience. Thanks anyway for your wishes. You guys all rock.

Bill
