Default Remember Dec 7th Pearl Harbor Day

Today Dec. 7th is Pearl Harbor day. I would ask you all to take a quick moment to remember the men and women fathers and sons mothers and daughters who gave their lives for our freedom as we know it today.

There are survivors of Pearl Harbor still alive today. If you know one or see one shake their hand and thank them. Very soon there will be no more surviving service men & women alive. After they are gone there will be only the memories the family members shared of their experience.

A Salute to those who lost their lives and those who survived one of the worst days in American History.

Thank you all.

Totally awesome! I notice this date coming every year as I am a WW II buff. I have family still living as well as some that didn't make it through the war.
I'm new to atm and didn't know if a post of this sort would 'fit in' so I refrained. I'm glad to see that riding, racing, and the egoes that go with it are not the main issue here. Everyone is just plain folk with a good sense of reality.
I love logging on here. Nice post dirtbikingdad!

I had always wanted to go to the memorial of the USS Arizona. Several years ago, my ex and I took a vacation to Hawaii and the opportunity had finally presented itself.

What a humbling experience. Seeing that ship laying on its side and knowing there are still 1000+ sailors trapped within...with fuel oil still seeping from its tanks...the creeking of its hull...with all the names of the servicemen and women who lost their lives listed on the memorial wall...words could never describe the emotions I had that day. What happened on this day...63 years ago...was truly a tragic senario.

PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN

Many, many moons ago I worked at Ford island (smack dab in the middle of Pearl Harbor), repairing the old buildings. They were still full of bullet holes, broken glass and various bits of stuff destroyed during the attack. It was like stepping back in time..
Worked there for over 6 mos, Every day I showed up was just like the day before- eerie, somber feeling about souls lost and a deep, profound respect for those that sacrificed...
