Well, I got looking through some files on my computer and I found some helmet cam footage from riding at the Moses Lake Sand Dunes on 7-11-09 with a couple of buddies from Kirkland. Had to ride a bit of a slower pace, they were on WR's and one on a CRF 250X, and they weren't used to riding in sand. But I've got a few good clips of helmet cam footage. I didn't take the time to edit any so feel free to skip any parts where I stop for a few moments to talk with them!
In this second video, the final jump was ABOUT 111'.. very rough estimate. used walking steps (average step is about 3') to get about how far it was. so far it's the farthest i've gone on the CRF.
In this last video I slowed down jumping after this. At about 1:30 on the landing my left foot slips off the peg and my toes dig into the sand jerking my ankle and leg back at a weird angle. No damage done thanks to riding boots, but still not very fun and scarey when jumping at about 4th tapped.
Sadly I didn't get any footage of the last time I was out with these guys. We were in the same little bowl area and I was jumping this small hip and practicing whips and controlling the bike in the air. They weren't huge but it really gave me a better feeling being able to move the bike that much more in the air. Looks like I'm about done riding in Moses Lake for this year, after I get my fork seals fixed it will be time to move to Rexburg and start hitting up the big dunes! St. Anthony's! Definitely slapping on my paddle tire for those dunes, that D756 won't cut it there!
