Well mabye not the only reason, but I think if you took away the fourstrokes most of the racers lap times would increase by about 10 seconds mabye.

The other day at the track me and my freind andrew wanted to see how many seconds the 250fs would shave off our lap times. Well he went first on his sx125 (five laps) his lap time was 1:23 (fastest Lap). Then I let him ride my 250f around the track for antoher 5 laps his new time was 1:11, fastest lap. I did the same thing on my 125 and got 1:28 for my fastest lap. Then I hoped on my 250f went around another five laps and got 1:18. So I think that riding a 250f will shave from 10 to 14 seconds of your lap times...or it could just be me. Just an educated guess.

If a pro rider could shave 10 seconds off his lap time, it would be like you or I shaving 40 off ours. I would bet there wouldn't be more then a 2 second at the MOST lap time difference in SX. But I could be wrong I guess.

BTW, yes, they can switch back and forth but I would assume that they would have to prove they could go faster on the other machine before they actually get to take one out and race it.

okay if i were to ride a 250f on a track, it would make my lap times increase by 10-14 seconds. it all depends on the person. i think wat fox rocket was trying to say about lap times between 125's and 250's are is that if u watch a pro race, and u watch the average lap times of the riders, say 5th place for 125 and 5th place for 250, they would be within 5 seconds most of the time
