![]() I have a few questions. As alot of you know I will be racing my 1st race tomorrow(11-9-03). My plans were to race the Heavy-C class but I ain't going to now. To race a B or C class you have to pay the $28 race fee plus a $20 membership fee for one year. There is only the race tomorrow and one more for this year..so my membership will run out and I would have payed a $20 membership fee for 1 race. I don't think so. So now I am gonna race in the UNLIMITED class which I just have to pay the $28 race fee. Anyways after I let you guys/gals know that I will move on to my question. I looked over the results for the UNLIMITED class for some of this years races. This one race about 2 months ago in the UNLIMITED class 26 riders started but it showed only 2 riders did the full number of laps. So I was talking to my friend on AOL Instant Messanger that races in the Light-C class. I told him "dang only 2 riders out of 26 finished". He said "no they all finished" The 2 riders that it showed did the complete number of laps did 4 laps..3rd place did 3 and quite a few more did 3 and then it went on down like 2 laps...1 lap. Anyway my friend I was talking to said "all the riders did the 1 1/2 hours" So then i went and added up the lap times for the guy who won and it came out to 1 hour and 24 minutes in something. That guy did the 4 laps, So then I added up the lap times for 3rd place which it showed only did 3 laps and his time for all his laps added up came to 1 hour 9 minutes and something. So what I don't understand is how the ones that didn't do the complete 4 laps did 1 1/2 hours...the 3rd place only went for 1 hour and 9mins and thats not 1 1/2 hours!! It looks to me like only 2 out of 26 finished the race. What he said was this "the two guys that finished 1st and 2nd didn't get lapped by the OVERALL LEADER but from 3rd place down they did but they all did the full time" I don't see how they did the full time..can someone help me here? Who is misunderstanding? me or my friend? I figure its me because he has raced like 2 years but I don't see how they all did the 1 1/2 hours. Thanks everyone. |

![]() OH and the only downside to me running the UNLIMITED class is that it is for anyone..that means since I am a C class rider I will probably be racing with quite a few A and AA riders also. ![]() |

![]() Here is a thought. It sounds to me like the riders who didn't get to complete the full 1.5 hours came around on lap # X and the officals probably stopped them as they knew that person couldn't make it around again before the alloted time ran out. Maybe?? |

![]() They do use a cut off time and close the check/finishline. In our 3 hour Hare scrambles they shut the gate. The cut off can vary depending on the length of the loop and sometimes weather conditions. You will have some guys complete 1 lap and others 17. Some of those riders very well may not have finished. It is all about who can go the farthest in the alloted time. It does make things interesting. Hope This helped a little more? Hard to explain, you will understand more tomorrow night! ---Mike |
