I was just wondering when you adjust the chian on your bike, you know tighen or loosen do you do this with the tire off the ground or on the ground? I know you are suppose to have about 3 inchs on the top of the swingarm from the end of the top rubber guard to the top of the chain but, do you do this with the tire on the ground or not.

I always set my chain with the bike on the ground, then sit on it and see if it is too tight/loose and adjust from there.

i think it would make most sense if the tire was off the ground, unless when you crank down those bolts, the whole bike will be moving while the tire is stationary or vise versa... i do it with my tire off the ground and three fingers above the middle of the swingarm.....
