I will most certainly be praying for all out Texas members with this storm heading in land. These things are the scariest event I know of. Just watching and waiting for landfall. after 04 and 05 with 3 hitting us and throw in 2 tropical storms and a near miss or three and I wish this on no one. Please stay safe everyone. If we can help please let us know. We have room for 2 families here if needed.

Storm, what storm, Tornado or cyclone (hurricane) sounds bad no matter which one it is, i thought Texas was inland a long way not on the coast

Our thoughts will be with the Texas crew through out this storm. Stay safe if your anywhere near CC or Brownsville get to higher ground.

I agree. All my Texas family members have been in my thoughts. Been watching the path of that hurricane for days.

Keep us posted when you can.

Pete,
Texas sits on the western side of the central Gulf Coast (Gulf of Mexico) with Houston and Baytown on the top/east and Brownsville, South Padre Island on the Mexico border at the southwest end. Many early 'canes hit in this area every year it seems. Houston/Baytown is on the Louisiana border and gets much of the west quadrant of what hits New Orleans and where I live in NW Florida (Pensacola.) Think Katrina and Camille hitting Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and what the spread of the storms does to such a wide area.

Looks like it made landfall in about the best possible place. Not much down in that area but tremendous ranches. I talked to a vendor in Houston today and he said all they got was a little sprinkle of rain. Looks like we dodged a bullet this time!

I can drive for 16 hours straight and still be in Texas. I just don't want to anymore.

I do have a trip to Aussi land on my bucket list though. Almost got to go for work a few years back to work on mining machines but didn't have time to get all my required vaccinations before they needed me. This was in QLD. Maybe someday I'll go there and skip over to Kiwiland.
