Guys,

First off thank you for all your prayers & well wishes !

A few corrections, no thoracic fracture, but a refracture of L2.

A fractured rib on my left side.

A bruised pancreas.

I’m now in a nursing home/ rehab facility & after 22 day’s in bed I’m as week-as can be.

Just trying to do 3 sets of 20 leg lifts with my good leg is kicking my but big time.

After dong 10 of 20 hip lifts in a set I was in a cold sweat & my heart rate was pounding.

All my muscles have atrophied & I’ve lost a good deal of weight.

But I will get back in shape when I can put weight on my ankle approx 90 day.

Hang in there Howard. Keep fighting the weakness. I was in the old home/rehab also, and as bad off as I was, I was still in better shape than a lot of the residents there. You aren’t ready for the rocking chair yet keep that desire and know you have lots more left to do outside those walls. Use those surroundings as inspiration to get up and GO!
praying for ya big guy.

Good news!

Looks like Iíll be going home in a few days!

This is a huge step in the right direction.

Physical therapy will come to the house 3 times a week to continue my recovery.

Still have a ways to go, but I WILL get there!

John,

I'm doing well! Thanks for asking!

Went to the foot \ ankle surgeon 3 weeks about ago & he said that everything is looking good & when I go back on Sept 4th. he my let me start putting weight on the ankle, He also might let me start driving again.

I saw the wrist surgeon last Tuesday the 14th & was told no restrictions on the wrist!

The Physical Therapy told me to take off the wrist support off the walker, man o man the Left wrist & forearm are weak & I'm back to being a little off balance.

It will take a few days to get back some muscle back in the left hand.

I'll work on my timing with the walker & foot movement, so I don't keep slamming my good foot on the floor & putting strain on my right hip & thigh!

Can wait until I can get back on my Mountain Bike & burn some of this post injury flab off my stomach.

BTW: it's tough to type with a left hand that's still a little numb

Howard My Brother ,You Scared the hell out of Me.
I was really concerned for You when they carried you off from the track
I hope I took alittle worry off of You by taking care of your truck and bike.
Really glad you are pulling through, Now you need to do what I did
Get rid of the 450 and go back to what WE know 2 strokes
Something kept telling Me the 450 was to fast and unforgiving
Our sport is already dangerous ,I almost did the same as you a few times
accidently whisky throttling my 450, and found at times I was going faster than I really wanted to go!
Traded kaw. 450 for new 2019 YZ 250 and am very happy I did!
Hope to see You soon

Default Update

Well gang,

Just a quick update, I went to my neurosurgeon yesterday, as I couldn't ever get in touch with the one from the Hospital that told me that I had rebroken my back.

I took the CAT scan from my accident & my neurosurgeon said that I could ditch the back brace because it didn?t look broken to him, as the Hospital was miss interpreting the old fractures or they were playing it safe.

Also saw the hand surgeon & I had all the restrictions removed, hand is still very weak.

I have an appointment with the surgeon about my ankle in 2 weeks & should be able to start putting weight on it, I might also be able to start driving again!

Another update.

Good news/Bad news.

Good news:
I can now start walking with my air cast boot & I can put weight on my Left foot

I Now can ride my bicycle with my ankle brace & high top tennis shoes.

Also released to drive the car.

Bad news:

No driving my truck,as it’s a stick shift for another 30 day’s, Doctor said that there is a tiny spot in my ankle that needs to fill in a little more. He said that might be pushing it & let’s not take that chance.

I have a appointment with the hand surgeon on the 26th.

Thanks for all the support!

Woody,

Not to bad, I'm allowed to put full weight on my Left foot, now I just have to build up my thigh & calf muscles.

Left hand is still very weak & parts of it are still numb, But that is improving too!

Got a call from my old boss & they have a Win7 to Win 10 project starting Monday.

Looks Like I'm going back to work for a few weeks, about time after 2.5 years, As I need the $$ for Medical bills

I just have to keep pressing forward!

Thanks for asking.

I'm way, way behind things, whew, what a blow to read through this thread, and super glad Howard is back home and on the mend. Howard, if you read this, Monica just looked through our phone logs, seems you called here on the business/land line back in early October and the call got screened by the call screening software. Try calling my cell number, 850-776-6498. I'll watch for your call, if you want to get in touch. Monica has you cleared on the land line too. Woody, et al, no sweat about the cell number being public, its in other places as well. I just watch for folks I know in the ID.

Well gang,

I went to the hand surgeon & found out that the titanium plate in my wrist broke!

As it stands now it’s a wait & see approach, but I have to go back to my in network Doctors.

I have a appointment with the orthopedic trauma specialist on 12/6.

We will see what he thinks & go from there. Wish me good luck.
