I have been thinking lately about "life" in general and reflecting. Perhaps it is the time of year. Anyway - let this 'Thread" be one where people post positive thoughts - that perhaps may ring of "a truth" for all of us to ponder...... I recently read this one on a plane: [Author Unknown] "A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account said, or what sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove..... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." Another one of my favorites: [Author Unknown} "Do not follow where the path may lead, but go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

A favorite of mine... To laugh often and love much: To win respect of intelligent people And the affection of children; To earn the approbation of honest critics And endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To give one's self; To leave the world a little better, Whether by a healthy child, A garden patch, Or redeemed social condition; To have played and laughed with enthusiasm And sung with exultation; To know even one life has breathed easier Because you have lived... This is to have succeeded. [Ralph Waldo Emerson] Great idea Mr Berg!

A man can spend his life building an empire only to lose it when he dies. Or a man can spend his life building character that will impact his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren................ long after he is gone.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Life Life isn't about keeping score. It's not about how many friends you have. Or how accepted you are. Not about if you have plans this weekend or if you're alone. It isn't about who you're dating, who you used to date, how many people you've dated, or if you haven't been with anyone at all. It isn't about who you have kissed. It's not about sex. It isn't about who your family is or how much money they have. Or what kind of car you drive. Or where you are sent to school. It's not about how beautiful or ugly you are. Or what clothes you wear, what shoes you have on, or what kind of music you listen to. It's not about if your hair is blonde, red, black, or brown. Or if your skin is too light or too dark. Not about what grades you get, how smart you are, how smart everybody else thinks you are, or how smart standardized tests say you are. It's not about what clubs you're in or how good you are at "your" sport. It's not about representing your whole being on a piece of paper and seeing who will "accept the written you". Life just isn't. But, life is about who you love and who you hurt. It's about who you make happy or unhappy purposefully. It's about keeping or betraying trust. It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or a weapon. It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening. About starting rumors and contributing to petty gossip. It's about what judgments you pass and why. And who your judgments are spread to. It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention. It's about jealousy, fear, ignorance , and revenge. It's about carrying inner hate and love, letting it grow, and spreading it. But most of all, it's about using your life to touch or poison other people's hearts in such a way that could have never occurred alone. Only you choose the way those hearts are affected, and those choices are what life's all about.

Wow, what a great thread my friend! I won’t go too deep here….I’ll probably be committed. Anyway, for most of my life my motto has been “Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst”. Pretty plain and un-motivating, I agree. But it worked for me, for a while. Unfortunately, I learned at an early age that life is short, losing my Dad, my best friend, as a teenager helped me with that. So, enjoy life to its fullest! Easy and enough said, Right? Well to me, that’s when it gets difficult. What do you enjoy most and how will you achieve it? Does your job come first? Who and what will be sacrificed? In most cases you’ll have to choose. I know I struggle with these questions. By the divorce rate, I’m not the only one. I’m not very well read, so I don’t have a lot of quotes to reflect on, but I do like these: Don’t sacrifice your life to work and ideals. The most important things in life are human relations. I found out too late.-Prichard. And being Pragmatic and realizing change will happen, I have to throw out a Darwin~ It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. One things for sure~I’m always happy on my 4-2-6!

I have lived my adult life by the belief that I will never be rich nor famous but I will leave two well founded young men who will have a positive impact on the world well after I am gone.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and G_d. It was never between you and them anyway.

This is a poem my dad gave me years ago. It's by Rudyard Kippling If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream -- and not make dreams your master; If you can think -- and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two imposters just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools; If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!" If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings -- nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -- Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And -- which is more -- you'll be a Man, my son!

| "Change" - often a word that brings an uncomfortable feeling to many people. It represents a fear of the unknown, forcing us outside of our personal comfort zones. Change however is a fact of life - sooner or later we all make a choice to change - sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Either way "change" is a feeling, reality we will all share. "When the pain you are in becomes greater than the pain of change, you'll change." [Bill Schlissessee] Change is something that should be embraced - not feared.
