This is a very touching thread.
I see alot of words of wisdom to live by.
All I can say is after my wife passed in 1999 and being left to raise my 2 children, it changed everything I thought where the pryorities in my life.

As Tim MaGraw says "Live like you where dieing"

Great stuff guys. Mine is a little less deep but it is still the truth...

"Try not. Do or do not, there is no try."
-Yoda

Here's some good ones from my buddy Abe:

"When times call for negotiating, don't allow yourself to be talked into fighting. When times call for fighting, don't allow yourself to be talked into negotiating."
-Abraham Lincoln

"Whatever you are, be a good one."
-Abraham Lincoln

"Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be"
-Abraham Lincoln

"It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels worthy of himself and claims kindred to the great God who made him."
-Abraham Lincoln

Here's a final one from Abe that cracks me up every time I read it:

"People who like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like. "
-Abraham Lincoln

It is good that you can have anything you want.
It is better that you can't have everything you want.

You know I used to read lots of philosophy. Looked at lots of art to find the meaning of life. After doing some checking up, I found that quite a few of the philosophers, artists, and authors I had been looking to for answers were, drunks, dope addicts, or victims of suicide.

Probably one of the most infuential people in my life was a science teacher named Larry Wehmeyer. Words he gave me as a 13 year old (my father had just passed away and I was setting out on the fast track to being a "man") went like this: "learn the things that will get you closer to people you need, feel the things you will need to be closer to those you love, and believe the things you will need to get closer to God." It didn't make too much sense to a 13 year old who just had his world knocked out from underneath him, but it didn't take long before it did.

IMO - this is an excellent post that speaks of "much richness." I am thankful for those who take the time to comfort all of us who hurt - regardless of the time we hurt or the reason we hurt - they do it simply because they care and are good people.

Thanks for sharing this!

I don't have anything to add right now but Ernie, I have adapted your daily look in the mirror and man, that really puts life into perspective. There were days when I could not say I did good but now i try to make everyday where I can say Yes, I did. Thanks for that Ernie!

hey, this is a great thread.

recently I took my kids to see rattituee (sp?)

and one part of that movie really impacted me, I am not sure exactly how it was worded but its something like this...

"If you spend too much time worrying about the past, you may be missing what the future has to offer"

I think that is a wonderful thought
