Default Paddle Tire Question

I have a 99 YZ 125 with a 139 cc big bore kit, aftermarket reeds and a FMF pipe. I'm going to install a paddle tire to take the bike to the sand dunes. I'm not for sure if I should mount a 6 or an 8 paddle tire for a bike with this power level.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks
Stryker

I ride quads, but my guess would be a 6 paddle tire. The 6 paddle should give you plenty of hookup, but at the same time won't rob what torque you may have.

Either will work fairly well. The 8 paddle will spinn less, but also sap more hp. If the sand is really light and soft the 8 would probably give you the best drive, if the sand is at all wet or heavy the 6 would be best. The difference between the two feels a lot like a gearing change. Think of what its like to ride with say 14/48 gearing vs 14/50 gearing and that's basically what it feels like with more paddles (more paddles = higher gearing). Not exactly the same of course, but similar. BTW I really like the cheng shin (SP?) paddle tires. They are much better than the skat trax imo.

good luck and have fun
