Default OT - Lease vs buying new truck

Ok guys. I am thinking of buying a new truck and want to know good ideas as well as bad when it comes to leasing versus buying. I don't put many miles on a vehical so I am leaning towards leasing. What do you think?

With a lease, they ding you for every little scratch or anything wrong with the rig. I've never leased anything, but my uncle leased a car once and swears to never do it again because they really put it to him when he turned it back in. I would buy, that way no one else can tell you how much you can drive your rig or what you can do to it.

If you can afford the payment, I say buy. IMO leasing is good only under the following conditions:

1. You will NOT go over the allowed mileage (which aint much)
2. You will not abuse the vehicle
3. You plan to keep it for only 2 years

Leasing is great for people that don't like to keep their cars long. I agree with cowboy, especially since I assume you will be using this truck to haul your bike

I think leasing is good if you always want to have a new vehicle, but the mileage thing sucks.

I personally woudn't lease. If you can afford it I'd buy.

if you have a business and can use anouther write off, then lease, otherwise it's a bad deal. my parents leased a car a few years ago and it turned out not to be a good deal.
a personal is set up only to allow you to get into more vehicle than you could afford to buy. if you're going to get a truck and hual your bike then surely buy.

as cowboy said they hit you for every scratch and only allow like 13-15k miles/year. it's like $.25/mile if you are over.

we ended up owing $3000.00 whent he car was turned in.

I have been averaging @ 11,000/year in mileage but like you said, it could change. This happened to my sister-in-law and she put wayyyy too many miles on her lease and owed BIG time when she traded. Just thpught I would get input from you guys. Thanks!

Yardpro is right, if you own a business it makes good sense to lease for the right off, but if you are a private individual most of the time it works in thier favor, not yours.

I could never lease, I put anywhere from 35-45K on a vehicle per year.

I have a bro in law and a friend who are both locked in leases right now and wish they were not. It may seem like a good deal, but situations change and if you get stuck in one it can be a pain.
