Default OT: E-mail Notification

I spoke with a few people a while back about not getting e-mail notification...and I still don't. My e-mail addy is correct, profile settings are correct, I've even went a couple of days with it turned off, then on, then off, then on...to see if it wouldn't work. When I first signed up I didn't even get a confirmation e-mail, I just kept checking back and one day all the blinky circles didn't have 'X's on them anymore and I could post. I was just wondering if there is anything else that can be done.

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

I think that the culprit may be some email blocking taking place as a result of the worm that hit the internet a month or so ago. The flood of emails sent under the guise of the site may have triggered some spam blocking or non-delivery to protect the members and servers of ISP's out there.

You'll have to explain, not sure what this means. :

Before I go on, thanks to all of you here for wanting to help me, I really appreciate your help, time and effort. Thank you.

Okay, I changed all preferences to "no" last night and rebooted the machine. I went back in and changed the coresponding ones to "yes" and then went home. As of this morning, nothing.

The e-mail addy I have it sent to doesn't block/reject anything, I get it all. Sometimes this is good and other times it is not.

Thanks again,
Andrew

Andrew,

What Rockey is talking about is the quick reply where you don't have to click on POST REPLY. There is a box at the bottom of these forums where you can quickly type in a message and hit the submit reply.

So what you are trying to tell us is:

You create a new post and have the option turned on to have it email you when people respond to your post. Correct?

I get it now. No, I don't use quick reply and haven't since I've been here.

Try deleting all cookies and temporary internet files on your computer (just the ATM related ones). Log out before you do that. Then restart (dunno if thats necessary, but its a good idea, and fun too!), defrag, sacrifice a goat, and try again.

What browser do you use? Does it block notifications? I have several folks that I cannot contact with email notifications generated from our database because they use google and it blocks them. You have to go in and specifically tell it what sites to not block.

Have done the above also, except for the goat. Still, no dice. Better go find me a goat...

Andrew,

I would give Woody_CRF a PM and have him verify what's listed as your notification email address.

My friend had the exact same problem and somehow his email address got screwed up when he registered and Woody was able to correct it.

Ok, I changed your email address to my email address, and then posted to this thread and I got a notification immediately. So I maintain that the problem is what Tyler mentioned. I think your prodigy.com account is blocking the emails.

Woody, still haven't recieved anything. I'll have to go check my account I guess, I just don't see why it would block out the ones from ATM and not any others...

Okay, went in and checked and I have a couple of weak filters on, like don't accept if there are more than 15 recipients, and don't take the ones being sent from overseas....that's it. Ditched those settings and now it's finally working, woooohoooo! : Thanks to everyone here, again I appreciate your advice and the time you've spent to help me figure this out. On a side note, I went and checked my 'BulK' folder where all the filtered e-mails are suppose to be and there is nothing there. Maybe I need to look for another IP.

Thanks again, sorry to be any trouble.
-Andrew
