Early 90's Honda QR50. Loved that bike. Then 1988 DT175. Back down to my favourite; 1978 XR75. I would kill to still have that bike! Now with my YZ.

when I was 8 my dad bought me a 1979 Suzuki DS-80. He owned a gas station at the time and the first day I got I was driving him nuts to show me how to ride it. Now for reasons I dont remember he had me somewhat pointed at his coke machine when he was trying to show me how to use the clutch worked. So I started my riding career by pulling an uncontrolled wheelie right into my dads coke machine, smashing the plastic front and light bulbs. I was the only one who was not laughing their *** off (including my dad) and I told him I was never riding again. which lasted about a couple of hours. Equally as funny was the fact that my mother (still to this day) belived motorcycles to be the most evil creation ever invented by man. So naturally my dad had to say to me. "kid, you must NEVER EVER tell your mother about the bike, or we will both be in serious trouble" Still to this day, 21 years later, my mother does not know I own a bike. She just thinks I am really clumsy and fall down the stairs alot.

1973 Kawasaki KE100. I bought it for 15 dollars from a neighbor lady and then spend 1 day and a half working on it to make it run. Road it 3000 miles in one summer, and then blew it up the next spring.

Killer thread Joe...... In 1962 I bought a brand new 80cc Yamaha (YG something) trail bike with a pressed steel frame, oil injection and a chrome & yellow tank. Rode it a bit and then had to have more power. Duh.....LOL Changed the rotary valve, installed a hi compression head and an expansion chamber pipe. Thought I was smoking and for me I was, and looking back I had no idea of what decent suspension was. That sucker had about 3" of travel (maybe). Discovered riding in the desert about 6 months later and have been there ever since. Almost got a divorce over buying that bike but that is another story.

Re: OK, here is a hard question. What was your first Dirt Bike? ATM, My first dirt bike was 72 Honda SL125K1. I loved that bike so much I believe it was the March 1973 Dirt Bike Magazine test that called it the turtle chaser. Ths picture of the kid parked at McDonalds on the SL with his helmet on and a Jofa mouth protector hanging open. That was dead on for my helmet and the Jofa, even dressed like the kid and had shaggy hair hanging out from the lid. It was a great time to begin riding dirt bikes. After 8 months I got the fever for MX and I brought an OSSA 250 Stilletto MX and went from there. Bill

I got my first bike at 18 it was a kawasaki KE100 with no exhaust. Which i ended up laying down when the throttle got stuck. Mind you i bought it for 50 bucks. About a week later i decided i was going to buy a real bike, and then took the trusty KE100 throught a foot deep puddle of mud and water and it seized. Well those were good times. I need to go riding.
