Default Not arm pump but numb hands???

Lately while riding I have been trying to really relax so I don't get arm pump, which has been working with good results.

Today, when I went riding I didn't get pump at all, but my right hand became really numb, the left did as well, but not as bad.

I'm thinking I may have tightened my t-clamp posts too tight or something when I installed my Pro-Tapers, which is causing me to get a lot of vibration feedback in my hands. Not sure though...

Anyone ever have this happen??? This has never happened before.

Yes that happens to me alot, a friend told me to hold the bars on the ends instead of the full grip in my hands and that will help. I am going to try that but you have to get use to doing it because it feels differant. I would be interested in knowing what others have to say about this also.

It's probably just vibration, but my brother gets something similar because he has bad blood circulation in his hands.

Yep it has happened to me many times. I don't have a solution to it but I have found that if you stop riding it almost immediatly goes away.

I think it has to do with vibration like was stated above. But I cannot nail down what I do or what happens to cause it.

Woody, I had the same thing today- tingling in my right paw while I was riding. I attributed it to my death grip on the bars

Hmmm, that could be it... What YP said actually could be it. I do push on the bars an aweful low. Especially now that they are closer to me... I think I need to put the new t-clamps I have on to move them forward...

Anyway, thanks and if you hear anything else about it keep me in mind.

The nice part is I went for another 2 laps with it numb and it wasn't too big a deal. Not like arm pump that is for sure.

You can get rubber bar fill that you put INSIDE your handlebars which reduces bar vibration...

Grips could also make a huge difference. And you touched on tweaking your control positions, which also makes a huge difference. The more comfortable you are, the less likely you are to have this problem...

Another thing is to try to hold on less with your hands and more with your knees!

Someone told me to hold on loosely. Thats what some other people said on here and it works, for harescrambles anyway.

thanks for the tips garasaki, I think my controls have a lot to do with it actually. I have new bars, new grips, and new bar location on the t-clamps.

As for the holding on too tight... I don't. When I do, I get pump immediately. And I don't usually get arm pump. Just numb.

I think I'm going to get some new grips to go with my new t-clamps and see if that helps.
