Angry NORTH TEXAS LOSES ANOTHER MX TRACK

The owner of McAfee MX has been battling the locals and neighbors around the track for several months now. Looks like the judge ruled that the track has to go. It is shut down until June when they will have a trial. This makes two local tracks shut down in the past year and a half.

You can read more about the case here:

Satch,
This just plain bites. I'll monitor and try to sned a donation if they fight the locals and the system. Wanna bet a developer is waiting in the wings for some property?

I'm sad to see this track go..he just got the track to where it was fun, however, I saw this coming.........I quit going out there because the track was so dry and dusty. If fact with just a mild breeze...it produced limited visibility on the main road that goes by his track. You could tell where the track was because the dust was actually crossing the road like a forest fire....he finally fixed this with watering the track properly....way too late.

Everyone complained about the lack of preperation of this track and he ignored it....obviously the residents in this community didn't.

The next problem I saw was he put the track right on the road right under the noses of the public. Out-of-site/out-of- mind would have yeilded him better results in this situation...This guy had plenty of land to put the track on yet his decision to build it feet from the main road made him a target of nosey neibors and the gossip of the town....Big mistake in BFE Texas.

I believe any track can operate in harmony with the local community if you show some responsibility and respect their land and not have plumes of dust blowing all over their cars and clogging up their A/C units...it's not right and I actually feel they had a valid case....he should have listened to US.....the riders and he wouldn't be in this situation.

I know I left out the noise issue but hey...my CRF450 is pretty dang quiet..so I know none of this was my fault

Not wanting to shift the focus here...but no amount of BRC or AMA memberships keep this kind of thing from happening.
Track owners sell, and city officials lean on the owners to do so. Cities close down public MX parks.
It seems like the only thing that can keep our riding areas open is..........

my favorite local riding hole garnered not a whimper by the MX community.

The next track in their sites is MX Oasis in Palestine. Seems the neighbors are irate already. I'm guessing the AMA won't help with this one either.

The AMA only cares about dollars these days. Even though they will make more in the long run by keeping tracks open so more riders will get AMA memberships, it also costs them millions to fight these track closures, so it's just not worth it to them. The people wanting the tracks closed have more money than we as a group of motorcyclists do, so there is no way to win.

Kirtwell, you must not have ridden it recently. He installed a sprinkler system that kept the entire track watered. It's not Nocona by any means but it was good for a local track. I hate to hear that it will be gone. It was just a 20 minute drive for me and I have kinfolks that lived in the area. No, it wasn't them complaining!

Does "private" motocross tracks mean those us weekend warriors don't get a chance to ride?

How ironic! You lose your private motocross track for running a brothel?

OT: There a chicken Farms in the rural area where we live and they really stink. It ruins the property value around them as when people try to sell no one wants to buy. And I have heard that property owners have had zero luck getting even one shut down.

I wonder if it were MX tracks if they would shut them down?

Chabat hold on here for just a sec. I don't think your too OT and you just gave me an idea. I have a friend with a fram that has now been surounded with developments. We built a track and some people complained to our faces. We explained to them that we were thinking of exchanging the track for hogs. You tell some yuppie your gonna start a hog farm next to their $300+k house they put up with the track.
