Default No more bike

A month ago I took my bike in to get it dyno tested.

The guy from the bike shop rang me up a day after I drop it in, asking me to come into and have a talk about.

When I got there a policeman came out and told me that my bike was hot, and that he would be impounding it. And It would be going back to the original owner.

It turns out the bike had been stolen off a poor guy way back in 2001, when It was almost brand new.

I know what your thinking, “You should have got the chassis number checked when you brought it” . I brought it off my brother thinking that he would have checked all the details.

I did pay market value for the bike and the police are not prosecuting me for receiving hot property. They are tracking down the people my brother brought the bike from.

Having your pride and joy taken off you sure does suck. I worked for year to save for that bike. That bike represented all the hard earned money I had managed to save through College and university. Where now im left with a student loan which could have been paid with the money id spent on the bike. – (I had my priorities right – bike first - student load second)

Learn from my mistake don’t trust anyone because even honest people may not know there bike is hot when the sell it to you.

man... that really sucks. I wont buy a bike without a title anymore. My old bike was out on the lawn for sale, when the rightful owner saw it and dropped by. Fortunatly he didnt want it anymore, as it was stolen from him back in '83. But it is still listed as hot to this day. Fortunatly the bike is only worth a couple hundred bucks... sorry bout your bike though.

in New Zealand you would never get 3-5 for stealing a car. It will interesting if they find the guy that stole the bike . He will probly get a slap on the hand from the police.
I think New Zealand should start dishing out longer sentences(especially to people that steal bikes )

heck yea man. the theft was on the last mont of "statue of limitations" i guess thats why. normally he would have spent some good time. i think in some foreign state like molasia or somewhere the cut your hand of for stealing. that would be good for him. then the bike would be of no use for him

That would really make me mad. Some states do to title bikes, but I guess you could still check to see if it was stolen.
