Default New rim = Spoke question

I'm replacing my rims with new ones.

Can I reuse the spokes.
Sure new ones is usually better.

But I've been told NO WAY can you ever re-use a used spoke. Used spokes must be cut off and new ones installed any time a rim is replaced no matter if the bike is 10 years old or 10 months old.

I've been changing rims for years using old spokes that were still in perfect shape and replacing the worn, corroded or otherwise damaged ones. The only time I ever changed all of them was if I was changing a rim that used larger spokes or nipples.

BTW this is for a trail bike not an MX bike, the spokes are all withing a few years old and have been properly adjusted.

Thanks.

Yes, you can reuse a spoke if it's undamaged. I bought a set of Excell rims from Monkeybuttparts.com and had to go to new Excell spokes but that's because Excell has 1mm larger nipple holes in their rims.
