I really do like the bike pedal--nice touch. I am sure that you and Ron will have it tip top in no time. Can't wait to ride it! Does it run?

Cool! A Wheelsmith Schwinn kickstarter. You know, when Bubba painted it, I believe he used a roller instead of a paint brush. No wonder Buddy Ebsen (Jed Clampett for you kids) died today. Jethro finally killed him.

Seriously, what shade of Sherwin Williams outdoor paint is that? I think they used to use it at the little house in La Grange (gotta lotta nice girls over there).......(reference ZZ Top kids):

Bring it over to my house and we can put my white framed 82 and Sherwin in the garage together. Maybe they will produce something like a purple framed Jap bike from the early 90's.

Let me know what you need for it and I'll be on the lookout.

Believe it or not the Roach does run & will move under it's own power. It just doesen't shift into any other than first. It needs a lot of T.L.C. I will take my time & do it right!

Looks like it will be a fun project Big M!

One of these days I am going to restore a older bike, after going to a vintage race a couple of weeks ago it kind of inspired me.

Oldmxracer:

It's going to be a racer, But it will look like a show bike. I've already built one Maico that I raced, But I'm going to try to go all out on this one.

Vintage Dave & I have a friend that has some of the best looking Maico's I ever seen. I'll try to get some pic's of his Maico.

You got the best deal that weekend!

Howard,
You got way more parts than I did last weekend! and yours is put together too. Man I paid more fore a box full of parts, an aluminum tank and a frame than you did for a running bike.(with a genuine Schwinn kick starter to boot, at least Schwinn is a German name: )

Looks like you have the makings of a winner when you and Ron get through with that Maico. That will be a nice scoot. When I get my 73 built we can put on a vintage bike show at a GMB race.

Bill

Default 3 reasonds

Little brother:

There 3 reasonds I got more parts than you did!

1. The 83' Maico's are not in high demand, Most of the guy's who race Evo III want the Honda Cr 500 or the Suzuki Rm 400/465's

2. I had to drive 2,000 Miles to pick up a Roached out Maico.

3. The guy didn't know what he had, My friend paid almost 5 times for his 83' core bike than I did.

I know you got a good deal on your Maico, As the 73 & 74 Maico's are in very high demand. Just go to an AHRMA race & look at what they are selling for, it's an outragous amount of money.

I know they will be sweet when we're done, We both have the advise of the Maico Miseter to help us put these Monsters back in tip top shape!
