looky here new member here

hey all ,

just wanted to say Hi, I have been checking out the forum and it looks pretty cool. my kinda place to hang out!

I was referred here by Vet. I met him this week as I checked out his CRF450R and ultimately purchased it today. Man, what a bike! I have always been a 2 stroke dude, but the progress the manufacturers have made with current 4 stokers is just flippin' amazing. It all started last weekend when I fouled a plug on my RM250 (again) and then my buddy did it.....he let me ride his '05 CRF450R. The bastard! He got me hooked, hehehe. The thing was so smooth and the power delivery was fantastic! So of course, I was then on a mission.

That's how I hooked up with Vet. Man, that dude takes care of his machines. John seems like a great guy and gave me a fair deal. Thanks a lot vet. Just to let you know, I just got back from a good thrashing with my bud and our CRF's. What a blast. After just a few laps I was feeling very comfortable on the bike and getting used to the 4 stroke. I can't wait till I get totally dialed in. Now....the '03 is defintely NOT the bike the '05 is, but vet told me this ahead of time. The 05 is worth the extra money, but I am very happy with my purchase. Geeez, I never thought I would see the day I would be riding a 4 STROKE! the times be a' changin, lol.

Hope to make some friends here, and keep in touch, John.

Happy roosting all!

Hey there! Gald you made it to ATM to check out the site. Vet has been around here for a long time and is a great person. I am glad that his bike went to a good home and that you are already enjoying it. My husband has a CRF450 as well and it is a blast to ride!!!

Welcome to ATM!
Hope to see you around and posting like a madman!
Oh, BTW, congrats on your new purchase! I too was a "2-stroke only" guy till the new Yamaha YFZ450 came out!

Definately better technology these days in the 4-strokes!

hey thanks for all the warm welcomes, that's awesome!

I am starting to get used to the differences of a 4 stroke bike, and I am diggin' it. The CRF450R really pulls strong and I am able to ride at lower rpm's with less shifting and clutching than on my 2 stroker! Plus, the thing has a bad-a** bark.

I just came back from a few hours at the local club. I defitely noticed a difference in the suspension compared to my 96 RM250. I was riding faster than on the RM, and I am less tired. Another cool thing....there is a double jump coming out of a tight turn and I could rarely clear it on the RM because it didn't have enough pull coming out of the corner. The CRF has such good low end grunt, after a few laps I was railing the turn and grabbing third just before the jump and clearing the double. Cool!

The only bummer is my left middle finger is killin' me! Did I wipe out, you ask? I wish it was that....actually, I was playing softball bare handed with a GIRL and she jammed my finger with a real zinger!! WOW! Don't tell anyone about that one, OK, hehehe?

Have a good weekend everyone!
