Default Need solid bmx bike, who makes good bikes?

Never bought a bmx bike that wasnt a wally world bike, and I have beaten the crud out of my mountain bike from falling off wheelies, going over on endos... stuff like that..

Reasons I think I want a bmx bike..

1. Less things to break. I keep breaking the shifters on the bars from endo's, and bending the de-railer on the back from falling off...

2. Use of pegs... Lots of things you can do with them

3. Easier to jump

4. More solid.

---- I need a bmx bike with very good brakes though. Not ones that slip... (dont need hydo brakes )

What are the brands I should check out?

i am also a BMX freak........right now i have a Powerlite Spitfire....hence my name...haha, then are all out BMX so none of they're bikes come w/ pegs, but for you, i'd check out Haro, they are high quality bikes, but most of them are HEAVY!, i love my powerlite, nicely built, all aluminum, and somewhat cheap (400 bucks!) ok, not so cheap!! ahaha

In a BMX bike, ive experienced two extremes. Bulletproof but heavy, or featherlight and a bit weaker. The heavy ones are intended for vert or flatground, the others for everything else. I havent had a problem with the durability of lighter bikes (Dyno, EightPack, ect) but bought a Diamondback Joker a year ago. Pretty heavy, but its nice for flatlanding. For dirt I use an old Gary Fisher, pretty light. I like all of the Hoffman bikes, pretty light and durable. My friend broke the bearings in the drive, but that may have something to do with his 230lb body doing a 10ft to flat. Go figure.

Just build your own bike man! Before I rode MX I would buy a new BMX bike from www.danscomp.com every few years. I had a Spitfire frame, S&M Redneck Stem, Haro Mirra bars, GT 3 Piece Aluminum Crank with a Radioactive chainwheel and a GT Chain. I had slingshot grips on the bars, one of the best grips by far in my opinion; I have even thought of putting them on my Dirtbike they are so comfortable, but due to the soft compound they would jsut wear out too quickly. Just get a budget and go to town on your bike and build it yourself. If you put it together yourself then you have the peace of mind that you will know how to work on it should anything break down or go wrong.
