Question Need Powerband

Hello fellow bikers

I am new to the board but am not new to motorcycles. I am 14 years old and have been riding since I was 5. Today my dad bought me a used cr125. I had a xr so this was a big change. my problem is it has no powerband. I think it has been removed. I went to my local mx shop to get one and they said they had them on sale for 49.95 but didnt have one for my cr. they said they were on back order and didnt know when they would come in. So I am in a fix. i have a race next week and need to get the powerband put in this bike. can anyone tell me a place a could find one, new or used.

Thankx

sid

Forget buying the powerband, you don't need it.
Just go buy a fresh can of compression and re-place the muffler bearing.
It a lot cheaper then buyin' a new powerband.

Oh..you can fit 2 real easily...in fact, if you trim them down a bit, you may even be able to squeeze 3 in there. Be careful about mixing colors though....this could be disastrous.

Well...where exactly are the powerbands? I've heard how great they are and stuff IF you find one. Share your knowledge, Mr. Craddict.

Don't buy a used one, the cataphlater will be bad.

The power band goes in the carb..it is a band that squirts xtra gas at different throttle positions

Default Powerband

Im afraid it sounds like hes not joking?

What do you mean by powerband? By definition it is when the motor gets into its optimal power curve and starts pulling (pretty much).

If it is a used 125 does the pipe have lots of big dents? if so get them fixed or get a new pipe that usually fixes not having a big powerband since a 2 stroke relys on its expansion chamber for making power.
Worn out reeds make a 2 stroke a dog, or just not having lots of compression since the piston/rings are right worn out.

Hopefully this sheds some light on your problem?
