Default Motorcycle Carrier / Trailer

Does anyone have any input on what kind of motorcycle carrier is the best? There are several different kinds on ebay and before I bid, I wanted some input from you guys.. Other than a carrier, how is the best way to get 1 bike to places? I don't really have the room anywhere to keep a trailer..

I have no experiance with those type of haulers so I am afraid that I cannot offer any help.

However I would like to hear some first hand experiances as well.

Just looking at those things make me nervous. I'd like to hear some firsthand results myself!

guess not, I will be the one to report back. I borrowed a trailer from a buddy of mine to go get it, but if I want to take it anywhere I need to come up with something.. I think I am going to give it a shot.

i have seen a few of them at the track. they seem to work ok. i know a guy that had a kdx on one and it fell off while he was running about 60. I had to do all the repairs on the bike (at least that's the story i got on how it happened).
the funniest application of the hitch carrier was leaving hampstead we saw one on a new volvo station wagon. they had mom, dad, two kids in the car and a cr125 on the back. the road out of the track was rough gravel ( as are all the roade to tracks around here). every time the car would hit a bump the carrier would bottom and send ravel flying.

you shouldn't have any problems with a jeep though.

Those make me nervous also. I have heard of welds breaking and dumping the bike behind the vehicle.

ouch.. I dont want to hear that..

Here is my problem:

I don't have anywhere to put a trailer, so I have to find something to use. Maybe I will buy one and have someone re-enforce it.

Good idea hevnsnt, it's also a good excuse to purchase a welder and do it yourself.

Everything I know about them is good. I haven't heard of any problems. I'm sure they already make them really strong because if you're bike fell off, I'm sure they wouldn't stay in business very long.

Here in SoCal riding mx is almost as popular is SUVs. I see those things on the freeway all the time...literally a few times a day.

I have never used one, but I have also never seen one fly off on our traffic congested freeways It will probably work just fine.

I say go for it... it sounds like your only option anyway.

The only real bugger I can see is you might need 2 of you to load the thing, or does it come with some sort of ramp?

Yeah, most of them do..

The thing is they range from $150-300, so I am sure as with everything, you get what you pay for...

Dont forget some states are picky about hauling anything like that. If it obscures the tail lights of the vehicle at all, some anal law enforcement types will be ticket happy! Check the laws of your state! I would do some in-depth investigations on the type of hauler you are considering also from the manufacturers web-site. The better ones are almost as expensive as a small trailer. Also there are some small trailers available that stand on end and roll for storage problems. Ive seen them sell for under $300. Weigh all your options well.
