If you go from 50 to a 48 tooth rear sprocket you would take away low end..... You would have to go to a 51 or 52..... You could also get smaller front sprocket. I have my 125 is geared for more low end and its geared 12-51. So I had to go with a reed spacer.....BUT a bigger rear would help out also.... Hope this helps!!!!! Chris

Yep TFP is correct, going down teeth on the rear sprocket will have the opposite effect that you are looking for. I would say your best bet would be go for a 51 or 52 tooth rear if you are looking for more torque.

even though the change is backwards, i voted for a sprocket change. it'll make the most difference

Yard is right. I've done the reed spacer on several of my toys and I've never seen it come close to matching a 2 tooth change on the rear sprocket. You actually get 2 different effects from them and both would be a good idea. I shouldn't say effects but I mean they give different feel to your powerband.

I don't want to seem too technical here, but Shocknut hit it on the head...changing the gearing will NOT increase torque or lowend. Changing a gear on your 10 speed doesn't make your legs stronger, it just makes it easier to pedal. |

Yep, FFR is 100% correct on that one. It doesn't give you more power by changing the gearing, it can just put the power you have in different spots.....kinda.
