Default It makes me laugh

In looking for used bike, I can't tell you how many "Never been raced" lines I've read. Then in the very next sentence it says comes with a paddle tire for the dunes....

How ironic is that.

I'm sorry, but dunes riding is a LOT tougher on a bike than racing will ever be (well, except maybe on the pro level).

I just know that filter maintenance was never a priority, and you can bet it was screemed up a lot of hill climbs and drag races (very very common at the dunes).

I just laugh every time I see that line.

Am I wrong in my thinking?

Yep, I can lament with you.

The funny thing is, a racer will usually take pride in his ride and will maintain it so it performs for him on raceday.

Whereas it wouldn't be uncommon for the paddock-ridden motocross bike to be held wide open and ridden hard and then just stopped, thrown in the shed and be forgot about until it's time for another paddock thrashing.

Let's not forget the amount of run time when you compare an average amateur MX race has motos that run less than 15 minutes each but you might ride 3 or 4 hours in the dunes easily. Did I mention that I have a nice used YZ450 that's doesn't even know what a sand dune is???

Right on woody.. Racers tend to have a lot better understanding of bike maintenance and take much better care of their stuff. And man is sand rough on anything mechanical

My bike has never seen a dune or a paddle tire, but I went to a sand track once and man did I regret it! I did get a new set of fork seals out of the deal though!
