Thumbs up Local dealer comes through again

It's really too bad not every dealer has service like the dealer I have in Moscow, ID (Palouse Country Sports Yamaha). I was in there yesterday killing some time, and the parts guy and I got to talking about hot starts somehow. I mentioned that I had contemplated seeing if a CRF setup would work on the YZ. We talked about it for a minute, then he tells me to hang on for a second... He had a Dr. D hotstart in the back that had been opened but was complete (he thought) that he said he'd sell me for his cost ($65). So naturally, I scooped it right up!!! Brought it home, got ready to install it, and noticed it was missing a couple parts. I took it back down there today and showed him what was up, and he sent me away with a brand new (complete LOL ) Dr. D hot start at NO extra charge. : THAT is service, and THAT is why I go out of my way to order every little thing I can from them. I've had to deal with a crappy dealer before, and I pity those of you who don't have a good dealer near you. Three more cheers for James, Arlin, and the rest of the Palouse Country Sports Yamaha team!!!

Nope, no arguing there at all! However, they were very stern about NOT throwing a 450 into the deal for some reason... :

I know what you mean. My local Yamaha/Honda dealer is a good friend and so is the mechanic of mine. THey are great.
They are only 2 bike mechanics left in our town and they are both great place/people.

It's always good to hear of a dealer that cares about it's clients. Lord knows there are enough of them out there that could care less about anybody.

I totally agree with you Chase. Customer friendly dealerships are not as common as they once were. When you find one, support them just as much as they support you.

I have said it before and I'll say it again...my loyalty is with the shop and not the brand (although I REALLY like my YZ's!!). The shop could be selling 1975 Cagiva 125's and I'd be riding one of those. This last June marked the 30th anniversary that I have been dealing with them. I have a couple of sponsorships in addition to the shop sponsorship but I buy everything else from the shop.

Oh and Chase...I have tried the "throw in the bike" approach about 200 times and I get the same answer!!!

This is the way I see it they should give you the bike if you sign a contract to buy parts for it exclusively from them for 3 or 4 yrs
they would make a killing...If they had parts ....I live by Houston,
Texas and You think you could get parts here ....Nope not if you
don't ride a new Honda and deal with Honda of Houston they are
the only ones who cater to DIRT BIKES
But I will say we have some good race shops here which is where I buy 90 percent of My parts cause they are cheaper and
HAVE what you need 90 % of the time then there's always good ole trusty EBAY
P.S. YZ I'll race my 74 cr 125 against your cagiva??:yum

Mine is ok. I have been there enough, and supported mine with some good money. I hooked up one of the guys with a moped I had for free. We always have small talk when Im there, and is a cool guy. Also, I find dealers are like cops. Present yourself nicely, and dont be all pushy, and they will take care of you.

Sounds like you got yourself a real sweet dealership though.

I really love the guys at my local Yammy shop- Simi Cycles. They take care of me with discounts on everything and they took care of one of my team mates on a new WR450 and a sponsorship to go with it.

Did I say it was Simi Cycles in Simi Valley, Ca. well ifI didn't let me just say.........................

The shops around here are ok, but I've never had any service work done by them. Theres 2 main dealers in my area one in Cedar Rapids and one in Iowa City. Needless to say I'll never shop with the one in Iowa City ever again due to customer service people with an attitude that they dont want to be there or help you.

5 Season Motorsports though, I'll give them 2 thumbs up. There parts people are friendly and they always try to answer your questions. Even the dumb ones.

BTW if your looking for OEM yamaha parts online. North Texas Yamaha (ntyamaha.com) is by far the most friendly one I've ever delt with. It must be the Texan hospitality. One time they forgot to ship one of my parts along with the order. I informed them at 6pm, and by 11am the next morning the part made a 1000 mile trip to my doorstep. Now thats service.
