Default Kick starter gear removal

     

I have a 197? ts185...i think i need a little spring in the pawl on the kick starter gear thingy..
ok... my question is how do i get the gear and stuff off???i looked on www.partsfish.com and i know there is a bold holding the shaft on behind the gears....


i think i need #'s 4 and 6
you can see the gear for the umm......tachometer is there too






anyone know how i can get to the lil spring?????

I think there should be a little spring ans ball inside of the actual start lever if thats what your looking for.

there is no spring in the pawl of the kickstarter itself. it is a one way ratchet. The only spring on the kickstarter is the one that returns the lever to the original position.

What is #6 in the picture? it is a spring that pushes the pawl on the inside of the gear...it weird compared to newer bikes...

thats beside the point, anyways, how do you get the gears/shaft out?

I bet there's a retainer screw somewhere for the tach cable--unscrew it, pull the tach cable, then I bet your kickstarter shaft wil pull right out.
