Default Just ordered the 450F Exhaust Cam!

I made the leap guys! The cam should be in next week and I will be going over the threads that had the tips on it step by step.

One thing I found out today talking to the dealer is that they have a new PN for it now which made it $20 more than the old PN. He was a good guy and ordered the old PN for me. Satch, I remember you saying something about the plug for the decompression port in the head. How can I get ahold of one of those? I may just leave the assembly in for now and just disconnect the cable. WOOHOO! The greatest mod yet! (I hope)

Cam is a third of the cost. That was a huge factor for me! Second thing is, I don't like freewheeling backwards if you get stuck on a hill. Not saying I wouldn't like the auto clutch, just that this was the best way to go for me right now.

Keetoman,

"Vibeguy" a new member here at ATM can sell you an machined aluminum plug for $6 or so. Be sure to leave the original seal there because the new plug fits inside the seal just like the compression release mechanism shaft.

Another thing you can do is take the compression mechanism shaft out and cut the end of it off (where the cable attaches) and reinstall it. Would basically be the same thing as installing the aluminum plug.

Anyway you do it you will not need the compression lever again! You will LOVE the bike.

BTW, I have been fiddling with my jetting and deceided to install a fresh plug today. SInce I was that far along I removed the headstay and the top cover to inspect the cams and my valve clearances. No viasable wear on the cam chain or gears and the valves were still in spec. I installed tha cam in June of 2003.

I think Blue Beast from Australia has over a thousand miles on his with no signs or wear either. one of the reasons I waited wasto see the long term effects and I have yet to see any bad things said about it!

I have to brag on this - last weekend when I was so tired towards the end of my enduro, I stalled it going over the top of a blind hill and almost started to cry because I didn't have the energy to kick start it so I clicked it into 3rd as I rolled down the hill and slightly pulled in the compression release and it cranked! YEEHAA! I was so stoked! It can be done but everything has to be done with split second timing. Something this cam mod will take out of play

Keetobro, You make no sence. How could you be stuck and freewell at the same time? Looking forward to riding with you ,to let you see the value of a auto. I've parked it with style many times and yet has it died. The biggest help has been when I park it! I go pick it up and I walk beside it while trying to get it out of the bad spot and use the power of the bike to help move it. You shall see. I still got my decomp and always will. No need to repace it. Start it once and go forever...................

I stalled it at the apex of the hill because I locked the rear brake up and was already pointing downhill.

I would love to have the auto clutch but my wallet said no...LOL I saw your bike at GMBII but didn't get the chance to ride it. I'd like to try it in the woods some time. I did ride Tyler's kx500 with one and have to say it's a great invention! I think that along with the "E" button would be the ultimate woods weapon!

parked it with style...LOL I gotta remember that!

Tman is the one who got me looking at them. Just wondering how wide your bars are?Another hint for woods is the gripper seat. Becasue of the mud and water.Talk about something that really helps......you should try a scotts steering damper. Talk about nice! I just put one on my bike ....Love it!

I have to get one of those gripper seats for sure! I was having a hard time staying forward after I made my splash down in that creek crossing and I had lost a lot of energy digging out! As for my bars, they are 30 inches wide. I would cut them but then I wouldn't have enough room for the computer control button when I get it unless I took the pro tapers off.

Ahh yes, the steering dampner. It's on my wish list...LOL Machobro, you definately have an advantage now with all those mods!

Ah the woods bike!

I have a gripper seat on my 250F. It just pulls my pants down and un-tucks my jersey, while giving me a supreme wedgie.

Also, I have stalled my 250F several times while rolling jumps on my first warm-up lap, but i have yet to really stall it, because it always bump starts right back up!
