Default Ivan out for outdoor season

Ivan Tedesco Out For Motocross Nationals

By Donn Maeda

Posted: 05.13.2006

After finishing fourth overall in his rookie AMA Supercross Season, Team Makita Suzuki's Ivan Tedesco phoned the TransWorld Motocross offices yesterday to tell us that he would have to miss the majority of the AMA Motocross Nationals.

A horrendous crash in his heat race at the Las Vegas season finale saw Tedesco injure his right shoulder. Though he rebounded with a spectacular come-from-behind win in his semi and soldiered on to a seventh-place finish in the main, Hot Sauce has been unable to ride ever since.

"It felt okay in the semi, but I tightened up and got really sore before the main event," Tedesco said. "I could barely move my shoulder and my wife had to put my jersey on for me. Doc G really worked on me and got me loose enough to race. And the reason I raced at all was to protect fourth overall in the championship. I felt pretty good in the main until the 15th lap, when the wheels fell off.

"I couldn't move my shoulder at all after the race, and I found out today (Friday) that I will need surgery to repair torn ligaments in my shoulder. I go under the knife next Thursday, and I will try to return for the last three or four Nationals.

"I'm really bummed, because I was looking forward to my first outdoor series in the 450 class and I was ready to mix it up with those guys. After winning last year's Lites Championship, I was anxious to race in the Motocross Class.

"I want to thank all of my sponsors for all of their support throughout my rookie Supercross season. And especially my team manager Roger DeCoster, and Jeff Fox from Parts Unlimited."

As Tedesco said, he is scheduled for surgery on May 18th, and faces several months of rehabilitation. We would like to congratulate the TransWorld Motocross Racer of the Year on his awesome performances in the Amp'd Mobile Supercross Series and wish him a speedy recovery.

This is not good! for Iavn or team Suzuki as Ricky was supost to mentor Ivan this year & then Ivan would be Suzuki's top dognext year.

Now who is Suzuki going to get to step in for the outdoors?

This will be intresting to watch.

Oh man! I feel really bad for Ivan. I don't think Decoster's curse is completely gone yet.

I say move Hepler up.
He won't get a podium but it would be GREAT experience!

You know what I would like to see?

Is for Suzuki to move Jeff Dement into Ivans spot, but it won't happen as he's already on a Suzuki.

Jeff has the experience racing the GP's in Euorpe & should be in the top 10 this year's outdoors.

He's done well for being on a stock off the showroom bike with just a pipe & suspenssion setup just like you or I could get.

Maybe Pastrana could take his place. That's too bad. He's not one of my favorite riders, but I still like the competition.

That really is too bad I live Ivan a lot too, and he ran so well in SX, I know he'd be in the fray with the runner ups.

that would be a dream come true, but a dream. I doubt we will ever see 199 at another AMA Outdoor race...hopefully I'm wrong!

Really, you think Sgt. Brown could take the Factory ride from Tedesco.. I mean, I'm fast as hell, but I don't think I could even break into the top 10 at nationals....:
