It's Official: RV Headed to GPs | Kawasaki Announces 2015 Lineup - Racer X Online

Kawasaki made a big announcement this morning -- and not just the conformation that Ryan Villopoto is headed to the FIM World Motocross Championship in 2015. The brand also announced that they have signed Davi Millsaps and Wil Hahn to replace Villopoto and Jake Weimer at Monster Energy Kawasaki.

Kawasaki also announced today that Tyla Rattray will join Villopoto in the MXGP Class and that Dylan Ferrandis, Thomas Covington and reigning MX2 World Champion Jordi Tixier will race in MX2.

The 2015 Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad was also announced. Adam Cianciarulo returns for his second full season and will be joined by new-comers Tyler Bowers, Arnaud Tonus and Joey Savatgy. Rookie Chris Alldredge will make his full time debut in 2015.

The brand also announced their partnership with Discount Tire/TwoTwo Motorsports and Chad Reed and Josh Grant. Also, Josh Hansen will return to racing in the 250 class with Team 100 MotoSport.com Kawasaki.

My guess is due to Weimer's bad results the past 2 years on the 450, Kawasaki decided to drop him like a bad habit!

I've never been so interested in the GP series now. What a trip this is going to be to watch next year. I just hope his knee is 100%

Yeah, I did some digging and it looks like Weimer hasn't re-signed with anyone yet. Bummer, I always wanted to see Weimer do well since he was the "local" MX guy for my hometown.

Yeah he's had some tough breaks, he literally got his ran over and chewed up this past year Outdoors. I hope it isn't another story of a former Regional SX champ that couldn't put the pieces together in the Premier class. Seems like a good kid

Anyone have any idea why RV is going to the EU? This doesn't make sense to me.

Says hes tired of the grind from the American Series...He supposedly is going to do the GPs for 1 year and then he's out for good. Plus I think he wants do to something Jeremy and Ricky have never done, add a World Motocross Title to his trophy case.

From what I've heard, monster is giving him about 15 million reasons to go...

I'm thinking this may be his reasoning...He's won every title here in the U.S. Everyone is comparing him to Cairoli, He wants to go over there, win a championship. That way, everyone in the world has to acknowledge the fact that yes, RV is the fastest man on 2-wheels (at least on the dirt side of things)

I beg to differ. Agreed that Ryan has not been happy for a while (try racing at his level for what amounts to a lifetime for a young guy) and his attitude is a little hard to understand unless you have actually tried to accomplish anything close to what he has but to say that his leaving is no great loss, I don't think, is giving him the credit he deserves for being a great champion and bringing all that he has to the sport. I just hope he doesn't take the racing in Europe too lightly, the US is not the MX superpower it was for a while. Ryan is the one guy I really would have liked to watch take a shot at Jeremy's records.

I was watching the racing over in Qatar, all I can say is, holy cow, those guys haul the mail. The track looks like it has alot more high speed sections than what we run here. Just my observation. RV's bike looked like something wasn't right as well, didn't launch well and was having problems in the ruts and breaking bumps.
That and maybe some freshman jitters and hes got some work ahead of him.
I think its great that he has taken it to the world, showing his mettle, so to speak.

Well, the champ didn't fare much better than RV.
He'll get his groove back and hopefully cap it off in America.
For now it's another stupid flyaway race, this time off to Thailand.
GL is just lining his pockets.

Incredible motocross presence in Qatar and Thailand.

Btw-Anyone who bet against the sandman JH would have been a fool.
He is awesome to watch.

Rv hasn't raced since May. And that track looked terrible to me. Like a big supercross track. I enjoyed watching though, Nagl was on the gas. And Herrlings is a stud. The chick races were pretty decent too.

But the one set of stands I saw during the live webcast were just about empty.

Give him time, what he is trying to accomplish is incredible. Remember Ryan has sometimes been a bit of a slow starter in the opening round of a series. Takes him a while to get things set up.

Hey mentioned after the race that the suspension was fighting him all day, I agree the bike looked like crap. If he gets comfortable it will be a whole new Ryan, lets just hope he gets there before he is in too deep of a points hole.

If he wants to win a world championship he'll need two seasons. Sorting out the bike is going to take awhile. Don't know if Villopoto and company did but many fans underestimated MXGP as some backwater series. It's not.

The track had no flow. There was no passing. Looks like 60 HP isn't enough.
