Default It's gotta be the boots... Nike 6.0 AirMX

Seeing Ryan Dungey and James Steward both sporting Nike 6.0 boots @ Anaheim 1, I had some flashbacks to when Michael Jordan was still playing ball and watching his commercials ala, "It's gotta be the shoes..."

So with Nike 6.0 taking the two top spots on the podium, I had to ask... or maybe wonder... Is it the boots??? Nahh, I know it's not, but this was the first I'd heard or seen anything about them. Not sure if I've just been under a rock or what, but Nike producing the AirMX was news to me.

So I did some looking to see what I could find. I found this.

Nike 6.0 - Insider - Ryan Dungey Talks Nike AIRMX

They certainly look interesting, though the shot with them next to the Gaerne certainly made me laugh -- since that's the boot I personally wear.

I also discovered that it would appear that these boots fall into the "Factory Un-obtainium" category as apparently they won't be for sale to the public -- though I personally am blowing the "BS" whistle, and see this as a Nike marketing ploy to get people really jonesing for boots they can't have... Yet!

Nike AIRMX Moto Boots for Stewart and Dungey - Mud in Your Eye - Motorcycle USA

Anyone else heard anything about these boots?

First I heard of them was last week. Honestly, they look stupid, and just flat out ugly. I think nike should stick to running shoes,

Must be the boots, because their shoes suck. Nike's are outsourced cheap, to Malaysia and Vietnam and... I don't endorse outsourced labor that hurts our economy. They look like junk too. Im sticking with my fine Italian leather Gaerne SG12's.

I would go with the wound up over nothing.

I thought they looked pretty good. And if/when they ever see store shelves maybe they will be a less expensive alternative to the expensive boots.

Woody, come on.... You know with the Nike name on them they'll be anything BUT IN-EXPENSIVE!!!!
Over priced junk IMHO.
I didn't think they looked bad, just know that if/when Nike produces them for the masses.... Expect a HEAFTY price tag!!!

Nike is from Oregon, named by some hippie who got rich. They gave the woman who designed the "swoosh" a hefty $20, buying the design from her.

I could not agree more man. That's why were in the can, way to much outsourcing. I have 3 seasons on my sg10's, if I could afford the 12's I would buy them. They have to be the shiznit.

Wow, what a hater. At least make some sense when you hate. Last time I checked Sidis and Garnes werent inexpensive. How could such bold predictions( Im sure they suck) be made when this past weekend was the first time youve even heard of these boots!

Youre worried about outsourcing to foriegn countries? If it wasnt for companies like Nike, the workers of malayia and Vietnam wouldnt be making 1/2 the money theyre earning. More than likely, theyd be unemployeed. Youve got issues with outsourcing, blame the choking laws and regulation our govt puts on big business here in the states. How does you purchasing boots from Italy help OUR economy? I miss that point.

Some hippie who busted his butt coming up w/an idea that noone else had come up with, and sacraficing to make his dreams come true. Lets hate him for being successful and providing a decent living for 1000s of people in undeveloped countries. Have you read his story? Perhaps youd find it an interesting read. Since when should innovation, perseverence and hard work be frowned upon? He should be used as an example of the ideal, not used as an outlet for your class envy.

The fact is that these boots are probably no better and more likely, not as good as the established brands that have had years of R&D and countless transformations to get them to this where they are now. To dismiss a brand because of some personal vandetta against a company and its owner or objection as to how they are perceived to do business is even understandable, ill informed, and wrong, but understandable. But to claim they "must suck" before anything has been written about them or any testing done, is wrong. Thatd be like me saying you must suck at riding because I dont like Hondas and you ride a Honda.

.
So outsourcing does not bother you at all. We have a ton of people out of work here in the states, but that's ok cause other countries have work and were giving it to them. We just need to sit back and wait for our own people to cut us in. Like I said, it's ok cause were keeping other countries from being unemployed.

Here's the bottom line.....Nike dumped Tiger and they needed another top black athlete to promote thier products. Supercross and Motocross are untapped in the Nike world and they are going after a market share. Think I'm wrong?...when to you to a Supercross near you take a look at what people are wearing on their feet and clothes.

Until folks stop buying their products that are outsourced to Malaysia and Vietnam they will continue to be one of the top Fortune 500 companies. I don't buy Nike products because of their price, not because of where they are made. Also, certain Nike products carry a connotation with certain gangs here in Southern California and I don't want to be any part of that nonsense.
