Default Ironman DBD Latest Update

The pathology report came back with nothing as far as what kind of crystals they took out of my wrist. That is very frustrating not knowing what it is.

I have been working hard at PT and have regained some motion in my left hand and wrist. Hold your hand stiff straight up and down (fingers pointing straight up) like its flat on the wall. My first day in PT I couldn't move my fingers more than 8 degrees down (as if making a fist) and zero movement in the wrist. I can now after two weeks move my fingers a little more than 90 degrees towards making a fist. It is a struggle to do it and my fingers will shake trying to hold that position but its progress.

My right thumb I can fold across and touch the base of my pinky. Try it right now seems like nothing doesn't it? I can only touch the middle of my index finger with the tip of my left thumb.
Most of you can touch each finger tip with your thumb its easy try it. My left thumb can't touch any finger tip at all. I can touch the underside of the last joint towards the end of my index finger and the side of the same joint on my middle finger. Try it so you can see what my range of motion is.

I would post some pics but we have lost our digital camera here at the DBD house. That is the latest update on my progress and return to riding the big blue beast. I hope you played along with me doing the motions as described. Both what I can do and what most of you can do.

My neighbor says he thinks I will be racing the next national which will be the Vikings Hare & Hound April 25th. That would be a goal for me but we will see how it goes.

Thanks for reading and doing stupid hand movements so your family members can ask what the heck you are doing.

keep up the pt, you'll get your range of motion back. it's frustrating to not be able to move like you know you should, isn't it? i hate that feeling.

it sounds like you're coming right along though. sweet!

Is it to painfull to do it, or you just physically cant? Either way it sounds like it sucks, but its progress, so good luck and keep it up!

I just can't physically do it. Its like having had a cast on for 8 weeks. I am very stiff the tendons have to be loosened up again to get my range of motion back. Then I have to strengthen because my forearm muscle droops like an old person in their ninties who can't move so well. I have muscle atrophy (sp?) very bad in the forearm. From what I understand though the muscle will come back very fast. Zoo might have knowledge on this.

Oh Baby I was at my neighbors last night talking while he was working on his sons bike. I sat on his CRF 450 and put my hand on the bars and baby i could almost wrap my hand around it. I was also able to pull the clutch lever in with a bit of a struggle.
My hand shook the whole time pulling it in but I did it repeatedly. I told him that I would be over every night to get my therapy on his bike LOL. His response was whatever you have to do to get back on the bike.

Anyway I am excited about that. I am getting much more motion in my hand and fingers. My wrist is better too but still very tight as far as range of motion goes. I can get approx 45 degrees angle with arm as my right wrist is flat on the table. My left I can get what looks like 15 degrees and I can't really get my palm flat on the table. I am making progress though and I will maybe take my bike out the 28th to try and putt around and see if I can ride it to the bomb for filming.

That is good news. The worst thing that can happen is we duct tape your hand to the bars like in that MX Unleashed commercial.

Yeah Dane...the range of motion exercises should improve that atrophy pretty quick. Glad to hear there is "some" progress happening.
