Talking ineedabettrbike

man, i just got to ride a new bike on my old stomping grounds. my friend came over with his '98 KX125 complete with custom one-finger front brake and totally screwed knobbies i took it for a spin around my little desert practice track (nothing but turns and elevation changes) and i can honestly say that my 92 is holding me BACK!! aaarrghh!! only every once in a while can i get trusty betsy to drag her bar ends in the dirt, well with this razor-sharp bike i drug them my second lap around! with just plain guessing, i was at least 1 second/lap faster on a track that takes an average of 21 seconds to go around (one day i did timing tests, my fastest was 19 seconds) it consists of fast sweeping corners, 180 degree corners, and a very tiny double that i ALWAYS end up "tripling" the double is only 15 feet. i make it 35 flat-land even with un-preloading (i built the jump for my BMX bike )

anyway, just venting, and i confirmed to myself that i WILL buy Rockey's 99 KX125 when i move back east, i liked the feel of this bike (98)

also, my friend is in the next class up from me and he had a full day of practice on that little track, (he went to a Dr. appointment and didnt return to school) and he came away impressed at how fast i was on the track. he consistently gets top 10 in 125C (i'm in 125D and last time i raced i got 4th out of 12 in the nasty mud race- pulled the holeshot too ) and i know i can be faster on a new(er) bike. i am constantly fighting headshake and arm pump because my suspension just plain sucks, but i'm working on getting it completely re-done by shocknut after i move back east.

off the soapbox now

The bike feels pretty quick though. The only thing i have to compare to it is an 89 CR 125 though. I dont like the way it handles, but its set up for a 200lb mxer, and the rebound on the rear is way fast. Engine seems pretty strong, if it were consistent...

lol, i know what you mean. the guy i borrowed from is a 190 pounder, and it at least has the springs for it, i dont know if it was valved. i like that better than mine, where i can bottom out over a particularly rough corner.

the other day, i put a Zip Tie around the chrome legs of my forks, and rode my track with it. when the forks compress, the tie goes down as far as the forks go, and stays there, letting me know how much suspension use i'm getting. it got pushed down all the way until the last 1/4" was sticking out, and i don't have jumps on my track : :

didn't yours seize? :

i dont know yet. The piston grabbed an exaust valve (i think), and broke a chunk off the piston. Peice got into the bottom end. Bottom end either seized, or my bearings are gone. Its all torn down right now, the only thng still on it is the subframe and airbox. were painting the frame black
