The KTM 250 (2-stroke) or 450 (4-stroke) xc or xc-w are great bikes.. the KTMS have an adjustable bar mount to change the ergonomics and KTMs and Husqvarnas have always seemed the roomiest to me. The Yamaha WR 450 is all good if it fits you.. they come with a few things about them that make them tamer than the YZ450 (a stop in the throttle one of them) but all are easily changed to the YZ specs...

All your suggestions sound great, I think I'll be looking at the 525 mostly. I'm not sure I'll be able to afford one right away in the summer, though. I may have to wait a while or settle for somthing a little less to hold me over. We'll see??

Your in luck, my friend is selling one of them. I know it has pro tappers, White Bros Exh, Probend handguards, new tires...its a 2000' XR650r with about 24 hrs on it est. The bike was a backup/buddy bike and he's asking $3,300. It looks and runs great! If your serious about a clean bike with low hrs. PM me. We live in NE Ohio 30mins out of Cleveland.

Phyisacal size of the KTM 450, 525 4-strokes, and 250, 300 2-strokes are virtually the same.

Live2ride:

If your looking for a KTM you might want to check the classifieds over at www.KTMTalk.com & see if you can find a used 525. Those guys over there are a great help in setting up the KTM's.
