or the 2003 400ex

i'm really interested in getting one my size...and I was set on the 400ex, but now I dont know! which would be better?? that link is just a connection to the info for the 450....please help me decide!!

The better fourwheeler would be the 450. Are you experienced?? If you are a beginner, I would go for the 400ex, 1) because u will have some extra spending money and 2)because the 400ex is an excellent 4 wheeler even though it does not compete with the other 450's. Plus the 450 looks like a pure racing 4 wheeler. Good luck with whichever oen you get. later

ok...thanks...no i'm really not experienced at all....i just started riding, and just want something my size to practice on. i would rather go with the 400ex because i've heard more about it and know its a good pick and cheaper for a used one. i just wasn't sure. thanks again

The 450 will be better hands down. Better suspension, better motor, better everything.

If you want the 450 start saving for January and get one. I don't think you will regret it.

100% correct, the 450 is definatly the supreme quad to buy over the 400EX!

Just a little experience I had this weekend. My buddy has a 400EX, which is a great bike. His wife rode my YFZ 450 while he rode his 400EX and she is a very beginner rider. She preferred the YFZ over the 400EX. So I'll go ahead and say it again. Get the 450, that is assuming it's as cool as the YFZ. Sorry I couldn't resist.

Look, im not trying to tell JJ that she couldnt do something, or anything of that matter, but i think a 450 is too damn much! Lets look at this...would you guys take your wives/girlfriends that have ridden twice on a TTR125...and then say hey your ready, and then put them on a YZF450? I had a CRF and i couldnt even handle that thing (im an A class rider, 6' 2", 215lbs). I think a 450 motor is a bit much for a beginner. A 400 would be great because its corked up and can be uncorked and modified as her skill increases. But i guess mass opinion is always best, right?

for an absolute beginner like yourself, I think the 400ex would be the better bike. The 450 will be too much for you, espically in tight woods while trying to chase down Joe.

The 400ex is a real mild mannered good handling quad. It can take any kind of trail riding with ease. They also have the xr400 motor in them, which means lots of easy to use torque, low maint. and they are dead reliable.

also what joe said, there is alot of aftermarket support, and if you ever get faster than the quad, you can easily hop it up.

I think nothing more than a 400EX, a 450 isnt a joke, its an extremely powerful machine that can quickly kill you, dont get that powerful a machine for a beginner bike.

Actually I would say that would be an excellent choice. Plenty of power, water cooled and has reverse for the same price as a 400EX.
