ya try racing withthe bigger class and try it out, if they completely smoke the crap out of you, i would consider going back down if you do resonably well and you feel comfertable stay in it, good luck

As long as you are not intimidated by the other riders and feel safe riding at that pace, I would encourage you to race at a higher level. You will improve faster when you have someone to race with that is faster than you.

I would work on improving your consistency as well. You have one of each finish except for a 2nd. Analyze what you do well and what has caused the lower finishes. Work on the things (cornering) that will improve you the fastest.

1,3,4,7,5,6 seems consistent with the inconsistency of a beginning racer. But that's what the D class is: beginners. Next year you won't be a beginner so you should move up to C. Especially if those around you say you are hanging close to the faster D riders. I totally agree with Vintage Dave. You will get faster in a shorter timeline if you race against faster riders. I was very proud of jr when he insisted on racing the Novice class at GMBIV when he new he wouldn't finish that high because so many tend to stay in a lower class than they really should. He has a good understanding of how the faster riders pull you along with them. Move up to C next year.

You need to move up, if you feel you are ready. If you move , remember, you can't go back down. That would not be fair to yourself. Always move in the direction to advance yourself.

i have to agree. i ran the begginer class for a full year with my quad. i was pretty consistant with keeping up with the faster riders. at my local track i was a true begginer (D class) then at another track (south fork) it was a C class. they were a lot faster then our C class but i could hang real good. this year i was going to move up to our local C class and run that. no i didnt get any faster running with guys i could always beat locally. but once i went to the other track. i was more apt to learn how to ride faster, start better, all that good stuff. so i say, MOVE UP. the worse that will happen is you get beat. BUT, as long as you know and believe that sooner or later, you will be faster and faster and start running with them. faster riders will always teach you something. talk to them and ask them to pace you on practice days or laps before the races. the more you run with them, the more you will learn. just keep your head up if it feels you cant do any better. keep telling yourself you can, and "IN TIME" you will. good luck and hope it helps.

i did alot of rambling here

A catch to his post

To all,
One thing Austin did not actually say is that his finishes have improved with the 1st comming last weekend . He and John are probably one more race away from the C or B class depending on the course. These guys have steadily improved over the last 18 months, hurricanes and all. I am encouraging them to move up with the first race next year. we have some free practice time during Christmas break at Atmore MX Park and I imagine we will use it for the good .

Bill

Absolutely.

Move up, I hate seeing people stay in one class because they are afraid to move up. If you never move up you will never get faster. Go for it and good luck.
