Hmm.......... I'll see if I can post the pic.
Here's a copy and paste of the article.
CARLSBAD, Calif., (Jan. 5, 2006) – Synonymous with greatness in racing and energy drinks, two of the industry’s titans agreed on a deal that will have motocross great Ricky Carmichael sponsored by Monster Energy Drink for the 2006 Supercross and Motocross seasons.
“It’s probably like how the New York Yankees felt when they landed Babe Ruth,” said Monster Energy representative Scott Sepkovic of Crown AMG. “We share the opinion Ricky Carmichael is the greatest motocross racer of all time. It’s truly an honor for Monster Energy to be associated with Ricky as his ‘Official Energy Drink.’”
Coming off quite possibly the greatest year ever for a motocross racer, Carmichael recently won the coveted AMA “Rider of the Year”
award for 2005. During this past racing season Carmichael won the AMA’s Supercross title, Outdoor National motocross title, the U.S.
Open and led the United States to victory in the Motocross Des Nations.
“I’m pumped to align myself with a company that has a proven track record of supporting the sport of motocross,” said Carmichael. “With its sponsorship of Pro Circuit to its $25,000 Triple Crown of Motocross (which RC won in ’05), Monster Energy has proven that it’s backing motocross like no other energy drink company out there. I’m committed to the sport, they are committed to the sport – and that’s going to make for a great relationship here as we kick off the 2006 competition season.”
Monster Energy supports the sport. Be it motocross, surf, skate, snow, BMX – name it – the athletes are rockin’ Monster Energy more than anything these days. Check out all the flavors – Original Monster Energy, Monster Energy Lo-Carb, Monster Energy Assault and the new Monster/fruit juice hybrid called “Khaos.” Ricky Carmichael digs it – so will you. He's pumped about 'aligning' his wallet with mad $$$ haha. I'd do the same if I had his talent. Good for him and good for Monster. The sport needs more outside sponsors like that.
