flasher How long will it last.

I have an 95 CR250R i ride kinda like a trail bike. I ride alot of open back roads an will occasional pull wheelies, Do jumps, and crack down on it. It fires up first kick an has power. But my question is if you just like rideing an arnt raceing it. how long can you scrape by without haveing to rebuild it. As long as it gets me were i want to go i see no point in a rebuild.

one thing u did not say how fresh or when the top end was rebuilt. if u bought the bike
without replacing top end or bottom end or checking crank for play. its a crap shoot.
as long as its u where u r going is wrong cause once piston goes u r looking at a complete rebuild top / bottom end.after a bout 15 or 20 hrs i would check condition of piston.

It will easily make it to the point of where it quits.

Default hahaa ok

I will let you guys know how long it lasts, I take care of it but i see no point in replaceing something unless it needs it. So if it runs then i dont need to mess with it. But the top ends fresh An will promb never be changed unless it stops running.

If she gets to the point to when she quits then it needs rebuilt thats just my belief if its not broke dont fix it. An besides im not out raceing i was just wondering the longest you can go before it really dies an needs repaired I figured it would last just as long as a 4stroke it would it might just lack power.

If it's been maintained well and is fresh it will last a long time, they're a good engine. Just remember your bike doesn't know the difference if you are racing it or not.
As far as replacing parts that aren't broke as you say doesn't mean they are not past their serviceable limit. Certain parts will need replacement even if the bike is working fine.

ps
And has a d on the end of it.

I asked a similar question a while back. The best answer I got was to test the compression with a new top end and replace when it's lost 10% (i.e- initial comp. 200psi, replace top end when comp is at 180psi).

As long as your tires have air in them, you wont need to replace them either.

Seriously, mx motorcycles are high rpm machines. They don't usually just die in their sleep. Most times, when something fails, it is a catastrophic failure. That means, when a part fails, it usually takes out the whole engine. A 2stroke engine will cost around $600 in parts to fix when this happens. That is why most of us do routine maintenance on our engines. For mx bikes that includes periodic top end rebuilds. Your engine may or may not, need this maintenance. Only you know, and if you don't, it is a gamble.

Default 145

I tested The 95 Today with a compression tester an got 145-150 psi. I didnt know i was supposed to hold throttle open so it might gain a little. but its there right now. Im not going to let beat the bike an neglect it but once it gets down around 100-110 i might rebuild it.

I would at least change the rings and check the rod bearing for up and down play; you will gain compression, more compression=more power. While your in there you can see where it's at in its service life.

Neglect to do this and a catastrophic failure could be looming...

But yea i got 145-150 out of it. I tested the old 86CR and it got the same thing. But its wierd where as the 95 starts first kick an has crazy power the 86 usally starts on 4th kick an has power but not enough the match the 95. I will be doing another test soon the correct way to get more accurate readings an use a better tester.

When your done working on your bike you need to buy a new keyboard, the "d" isn't working on yours.
