Default Honda or Yamaha

Well today I went out and rode. Was a fairly good day. To the point every one on a four stroker was flying past me on my little 2 smoke. So i have decided to get a four stroker. I'm stuck between CRF 250 or the YZ 250F. Any input is good for me. BWT I'm 15 years old weigh 180 and I'm right arround 6'. Do you think i should get a biger bike than these? Thanks

I say CRF250R, you learn on that bike, then go up for a bigger bike when you find yourself wanted more power.

Ya get good on one of those bikes like honda rider says move up when you find yourself needing more. plus you can always do some mods then move up. good luck on your purchase.

i defintaly say go with one of the 250Fs first. either one will make you one very happy camper! and there's a number of people on the board who have the new "mini" thumpers for 04.

I would say that the difference between buying a 250F or a 450F would depend on you and your riding abilities. Really, your the only one who knows what those are.

I have been riding for awhile. My bro has a 426 and i really like to ride it. I'd say my abilities are fairly good.

The other thing that I'm worried about is suspention. I really don't want to get it sprung or any thing.

Maybe try and ride one of your friends bikes. After this you can choose which fits you best. I like my YZ450F but my friend rides a CR450F and I also like the bike. They are both good. I'm sure this will count for the 250's. Ride and choose, and let us know with some pics. Have fun!!

Personally I like the 450's better. If theres too much power, dont twist so hard, but you will never not have enough power.

If you get in a corvette, say 69' built to the hilt, would you mash the throttle all the way to the floor every time? Or would you just motor around like normal til' that 17 year old punk in his stock civic goes by a little to close and you pass him like he's standing still. Go with the 450. You are big enough.

Default Hrmm...

We have a CR250 and a CRF450. They have the same overall power, its just in different places. The 4 Stroke 450 is more linear (the more gas you give it, it adds exactly that much more speed). But the 2 Stroke 250 is more exponential (it has less power on the low end, but if your driving around in the midrange and gun it....all you can see is your front fender). The 250 is easier to wheely on (harder to control lol). I can be going on the CR50 in 4th gear in half throttle and pin it and then the front comes up and I pee my pants and let go and roll down the road lol. Either that, or you pin the throttle and suddenly your going sideways down the road at 45 or 50 MPH lol...thats pretty scary also. Ive rode both and the 450 is easier to ride in the fact that it is more predictable in the throttle. So if you weigh 180, get the 450.

Also...cant say that the 4 strokes are faster though lol. I drag raced my 80 in texas once. There were a total of 6 bikes and 3 Quads. They were msotly 4 strokes and also a few 2 stroke bikes. I think the 4 strokes were mostly YZ426's and one was a CRF. The quads were all the racing kind (dont know if there is a special name for em, but they werent the kind that hunters use). Anyways, I won 2 races out of the 4 or 5 that we did. It was partically knowing when to shift and how much power to give it at the start, but I gotta give the bike some credit lol. Then...my stepdad let me ride his CR250...OH MY GOD...my heart was beating so fast at the end. I raced most of the same people, and at the end, I ahd enough time to look back and watch em all cross the finish line (they were like 1 or 2 seconds after me heh).

I had to give love to Blue.

You will be happy with either choice though, just be sure and post some pics of her when you pick it up.

If I ever get a cam!!! I'd rather drop some money into the bike rather than a digi cam.
